I thought of one thing when I saw the pics...

Matthew 9v36 "But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd."

I can only wonder if the same verse would be brought to mind if the masses were wearing white hoods.

What I see in the pictures is anarchy. Aren't we supposed to obey the laws? Did Jesus teach disobedience to civil authority? Or did Jesus teach submission to civil authority?

We are no longer a nation of laws. The proof is in the camera lens.

Yes, Lady Eagle we do have a responsibility to obey those that God has placed to rule over us...

(Unfortunately, they niether obey their own laws nor enforce them!)

Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Romans 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

The Underground Railroad broke the written law of the land...

But, for those people it was a matter of conscience...

They knew that if they were caught doing so, they would recieve the full effect of the law...

There is also an OT story where either the Northern Kingdom or the Southern Kingdom was being infiltrated...

And, they way they determined who the imposters were was by a word that was differently spoken.

I think it was something like 'Miphiboseth'?

At any rate when they infiltartors were unmasked they were killed on the spot...

So, I really don't think anyone can apply our care of the Aliens, Fatherless and Widows with people who willfully and knowingly violate our borders and our laws...

No one is suggesting treating them as the "fatherless and widows in their affliction," but simply as lost souls for whom Christ died.

The attitude here seems to be that they should all be killed instead of having hearts stirred with compassion.

How would Christ respond to those pictures? With a "lock and load" mentality?

As far as applying OT laws to them and saying that the US can act like Israel - are we all willing to submit to the OT law - or is it only applicable to these people?

    Does compassion excuse lawbreaking?

Does compassion take from ones own to give to strangers?

Killed? Never! Sent back to come in Legally? Absolutely!

It appears from the pictures of the organizers that **THEY** are the ones with the 'Lock & Load' mentality...

That *they* have already declared war on America and Americans are too stupid to realize it.

I fear that if our Givernment doesn't start enforcing our own laws that non-Christians will begin taking the law into their own lands...

And, they won't bother to check for ID...

You are free to try to go to Mexico as a Missionary any time you want if their lost souls are really as much of a concern as you say...

There are plenty of lost souls there.

We have many lost souls here in America, too...

And, **they** aren't getting the treatment Americans deserve even if they are Fatherless and Widows because the illegals are over taxing the system...

It's one thing to lay one's life down voluntarily, if, it would do any good...

But, people like you are asking an entire Nation to lay down their lives...

And, when all is said and done it will destroy the very thing that makes America a 'draw' to others...

I do not advocate OT Law being applied to them...

BUT, the fact that in at least one case infiltrators were dealt not as "Lost Souls". But, as the infiltrating enemy they were...

Come in legally... You'll be welcomed...

Of course not - it is the spirit here in this thread that concerns me. I truly cannot imagine Christ saying the same things as have been said.

Thought about that and even prayed about it. The Lord led me to Ireland instead ;) .

No, I am not trying to excuse law breaking. And yes, walls on the Southern Border should be built. If the Mexican government puts up a fuss, too bad. They should look at their own anti-foriegner land laws before gripping.

What I am saying is God in His Providence has allowed this situation to develop. He has brought the "mission" field to your doorsteps. I write "your" because San Francisco has always had a large Hispanic (native born and otherwise) segment in its population.

Seeing the desperate spiritual needs of lost souls is asking a Nation to lay down their lives?

No, asking us to ignore our immigration laws, is.

BTW: Are you really from Ireland?

No one advocates ignoring laws - I am concerned over the spirit shown here by believers. There is little if any compassion or concern as Christ wants us to show.

I am an American missionary in Ireland, if that is somehow relevent to the discussion.

OK, there have been a few generally stupid and inconsiderate posts...

But, we simply have to seal our borders. Period.

That is more important than the illegals already in the country...

We simply *must* know who and what is crossing our borders...

This is a National Security Issue...

The only compromise I am even contemplating on the compassion issue is for people who have been here 5 years or more...

In that case, good grief, we kinda owe it to them for being so stupid...

The two to five years range is "iffy" for me. I'd say handle them on a case by case basis.

Considering other family members in the US...

And, importance of the job they are performing...

Less than two years... Send them back... They can get in line like everyone else...

Lastly, to stay as other than a, not yet defined, "Guest Worker" they have to give up their Mexican Citizenship and integrate into American Society, speak english, and work for a living...

My gut reaction is to send them all back as they knew when they came they were breaking the law...

Just be glad that none of us are advocating the US reciprocate the immigration policy of Mexico...

Heaven help the American caught trying to live and work in Mexico without papers...

The only two things that should be required for citizenship.....

    Learn English

Serve 2 years in an armed force. (I'll make an exception for those who choose two years in the Peace Corps.)

This all has to do with the works and wages of course. In your bible you might consider what JAMES 5:4 has to say about this.

That's a small part of the whole problem...

    Greed!

And, you are absolutely correct in applying James 5:4 to the way business takes advantage of illegals...

    Great Point...

When a positive and realistic reform of our immigration laws is finnaly passed and everything is put on a level playing field where the naturalized citizens of this country are no longer threatened of having to compete against unfair and cheap labor then I think many will see the compassion that Americans have always had for the downtrodden of different countries. But I am quite satisfied with our current immigration laws , we are just not enforcing them as we should.

If we allow people to enter and live here illegally why do we have imagration laws? Why do we need them if we aren't going to enforce them?
