The SBC has been quit good at posting plaques, pictures and naming those who give lots of money to their causes. If that isn't idolatry what is it then?

The context of this passage obviously speaks of images or likenesses that will be worshipped. Otherwise, I am sinning carrying around photos of my son! I also have a couple of small statues of birds and a little carving of a boy playing a flute, given to me by my son. According to you, this all means I'm violating this commandment.

I thought I read on another thread that you collect statues (knick knacks) of elephants. Did I read wrong? Or am I confusing you with someone else?

Whether I agree or disagree with Dr. Graham's methods of evangelism, he has been an upstanding witness to the world community. He has had a steadfast personal dedication to our Lord Jesus Christ. It is, therefore, quite fitting to raise a monument to his life, in my humble opinion.

God bless "Billy" in his shadowy days. His greater reward awaits him, when Jesus says, "Well done, my good and faithful servant. Enter into my peace.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Billy Graham's position on things/issues has for years changed with whatever audience he was speaking to. He plays to the crowds and is very adept at it.

Remember what the Bible says about a double minded man.

I've never heard anyone make this comment about him. You're the first that has said this that I've ever read or heard. :(

It won't be an idol to worship--just a tribute. I've been to churches who have honored their former pastors by hanging portraits stating when they served.

Besides, he didn't request it to be done.

Nothing wrong w/it in my opinion.

Billy Graham is probably the best crowd pleaser in the wonderful world of ecumenical evangelism.

Repeat after me, now you are saved, here is some literature, go find a good church...is why many churches are filled with those unregenerated.

Warm fuzzy feelings inside do not constitute calling and regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

See Mt. Ch.7.--those who had done great things in Jesus name--He told them to depart, He never knew them.

Where shall we put the statue--slightly lower than the one to the Blessed Virgin? Icons come in many flavors.

Beware the leaven of the Pharisees.

    Selah,

    Bro. James

Trained counselors are provided at all crusades. Yes, people are sent back to their own churches, but they know the gospel truth when they leave his crusades. Too bad some of the so-called fundamentalist churches don't get more involved and contribute to leading people in the right direction. They would rather sit back and be critical.

I have seen some of these churches offer easy believism as well...A quick walk to front and a rapid baptism as soon as possible..why they even plead for a half hour, playing the same hymn line over and over and over.......and they call this solid evangelism....just because they are doing it.

    God bless you, Dr. Graham.

    Cheers,

    Jim

James and FoG, since you have a doctrinal issues with him, I suppose you've contacted Rev. Graham personally and expressed your concerns before blasting him on this board.

That would be the biblical thing to do.

Can you be a little more specific? That's a broad statement. Surely you have some specific examples to back up your assertion.

Remember what the Bible says about spreading malicious gossip and false rumors. :(

Billy Graham preaches the Gospel in a very simple and easy way, which is the good point of him. But I remember the followings:

    1) I heard from other person that he said " The salvation of Pope John Paul II is surer than my own" I wonder if Billy Graham knows that he would have been killed if he had lived the dark age in Europe and preached the gospel at that time. Why didn't he advise Pope or comment on the Idol Worship, Goddess worship, all the paganism, and so on? Does Billy Graham believe in Purgatory?

    2. Easy believism produced a lot of churchmen, churchwomen, who can be discerned and judged by God.

    3. It is not very much wonder that his followers try to make a statue for him. What if the statue is destroyed? Will it be a blasphemy to him or to God? or glory to God?

There are some in the Christian community that do not agree that a person can be saved by grace through faith by repenting and making a simple declaration of that faith.

Billy Graham did his part by preaching the Gospel. Only God will determine the depth or reality of each persons committment. According to the Bible, if their committment is real, their salvation is just as assured as yours and mine.

No affiliation with any particular church or denomination is required for their salvation.

Opinion....and we all have the right to have one. I have been to one of his crusades and it a spiritually moving experience for those that are open to the spirit.
I have great respect for Billy Graham. And, that's my opinion.... [IMG] [IMG]

I agree we all have our opinions. I'm glad that
lgpruitt has his opinion of Billy Graham - I just don't happen to share the high opinion he has of Billy Graham.
I merely stated my opinion about the proposed statue. My opinion was just that - my opinion.
And yes, I did send my objections about Billy Graham's ability to play to his audiences to his evangelistic association several years ago.
I never received a reply, but then I didn't expect one either.
My reply was never intended to question lgpruitt's high opinion of Billy Graham. I would never do that.
There are many people who respect, and admire Billy Graham, I'm simply saying that I am not counted among them.

I would go farther than that. Any who do not make disciples are disobedient and living a lie against the truth of God's Word.

With many it is about mickels and noses. Many are shooting for those good statistics. Just so they can look good in front of man and get a "good job."

    You said more than that.

You indicated he was two faced (a hypocrite) and I am still calling on you to clarify your remarks.

Vague innuendo is just another form of malicious slander.

Your response to scripture should have been to make disciples. So I assume you have done that?
