Hello all. I've recently begun reading Christian books again. I do not want to read books by major televangelists. Its a personal thing. Anyways, what CHRISTIAN books should I read? I would like a list..

Are you a guy or a girl? Do you like fiction,non-fiction,or both? Do you like fantasy,sci-fi (I see in your profile you like Star Wars),romance, history?

Any particular topics or issues you're interested in?

I have a boatload of fiction titles I can recommend, but I need to know a little bit about you first.

I prefer non fiction . I love Science fiction. Non-Fiction CHRISTIAN books are my favorite though. I don't like the LEFT BEHIND series.

What about the series don't you like? I personally am a great fan and was led to the Lord due to a great deal by this series. Just interested. Try C.S. Lewis or Peretti's "Piercing the Darkness"

Steveninetx, I do not like the fact that it teaches one can hear and reject the gospel on this side of the rapture and still get saved during the rapture. Many of the characters come from a christian family or have christian friends who present the gospel but they continually reject it. Yet after the rapture they see the light.

Not to stray from the OP, but if you do not think that any will be saved after the rapture, then what is your interputation of Revelation 7:13-14

I would recommend anything by C.S. Lewis: "Mere Christianity," "The Screwtape Letters," "God in the Dock," Surprised by Joy," etc.

It works! I will check out that book when all the other books that I have on hold at the PL (Public Library) are read.

People saved, yes, but not if they'd heard the gospel before the Rapture. The saved during the tribulation would be those who hadn't heard it before.

The Left Behind books were also instrumental in my own salvation, and it was quite a shock to learn that there's no salvation after the Rapture for those who previously heard the gospel. But LaHaye/Jenkins are the only source I know of that says otherwise.

Jesse, I highly recommend Frank Peretti's "Wounded Spirit."

If you like Science Fiction, a good series by a Christian author is the Firebird series by Kathy Tyers. All three books are excellent.

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0764222147/qid=1024364037/sr=1-7/ref=sr_1_7/103-2316944-2167824

Also, Oxygen by Randall Ingermanson and John Olson is equally excellent.

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0764224425/qid=1024364213/sr=1-11/ref=sr_1_11/103-2316944-2167824

Transgression by Ingermanson is also great.

What kind of non-fiction books do you like?

I would suggest that a great place to start would be John Piper's "Desiring God".

For spiritual growth, nothing beats the Puritans. Some can be hard to read. There are modern revisions and abridgements available from Grace publications. A great website for good Christian books is Discerning Reader

Read anything you can get by Alistair Begg, John Piper, Chuck Swindoll for the most part, etc.

I don't want to open a can of worms, nor do I want to highjack the OP, but is this based on Scripture, or just what someone believes? I don't recall the Scripture saying that it will be only those that have not heard the gospel. Of course I may be wrong, but if you can give me a passage, I would appreciate it.

I said that I will not read books by major televangelists. It is a personal thing. Authors include the following:

    1.) Billy Graham
    2.) Chuck Swindoll
    3.) Robert Harold Schuller
    4.) John Macarthur
    5.) Charles Stanley

"And The Word Came With Power: How God Met and Changed a People Forever" by: Joanne Shettler

"The Singer Trilogy" by: Calvin Miller

"No Compromise: The Life Story of Kieth Green" by: Melody Green

Those are some of my favorites.
