Having looked over this site, I cannot help but point out its errant portrayal of "The Arminians" -- at least the Remonstrants who first followed Jacobus Arminius -- as "similar to Semi-Pelagianism." That may sell with Calvinists who wish to dismiss any challenge to their system, but it is quite theologically inaccurate, and to perpetuate such myths is, to be blunt -- sinful.

Additionally, when the origins of Baptists are discussed, ONLY those Baptists of Reformed conviction are even mentioned. The first Baptists, however, who founded the Baptist Church at Spitalsfield in 1612 under the leadership of Thomas Helwys, were clearly General Baptists -- Arminian in doctrine.

As a Historian, while much of this material is valuable, it is often what is left out or misrepresented that tells us the most -- not about Church History, but about the biases of those who present it.

Only by those w/o ears to hear. BTW, a paraphrased quote disagreement is hardly "sound discreditation".

 

I have a huge Christian library in my home and in them I have "The Christian's Guide to Church History" by James L. Melton, a very short and brief; but, very informative book on church history along with Dr. Peter Ruckman's 2 volume set on Church History and am looking to purchase Foxe's book of Martyrs soon also, as I love Church History. I also have the books of Philo and Josephus and other books on Jewish history as well. So; maybe if there are any questions I can look them up and let one know what I have in my library and whom says what?
