Do you remember a previous thread concerning this person's "grieving"?

See Our Compassionate President At Work for the previous thread in which this lady's actions were debated.

Here's what Neal Bortz had to report today, August 12, 2005, about how her own family feels about her conduct:

See Neal Nuze for more of his commentary. He's been reporting on this issue for several days. He blew a big hole in her false accusations that the President was inconsiderate, etc. in her private visit with him.

He's correct about her conduct. She's not grieving the loss of her son but, rather, using her son's death as a tool for expression of her deep hatred. It's a shame the liberally biased major news networks can't get that story right.

The Secret Service is, hopefully, keeping a close eye on this loose canon because the way she's talking there's no telling what she might decide are acceptable means to carry out her vengeance.

It is a very sad situation for Mrs Sheehan. She will never get over the loss of her son. My mother survived the loss of her son in WWII by 50 years and I am sure grieved those 50 years. What makes this situation so dispicable, however, is that the Bush Haters and the USA Haters are using this poor lady.

I do resent Neal Bortz calling Mrs. Sheehan a media <edited-LE>.

    Media <edited-LE>

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Media <edited-LE> is a pejorative term used to describe two categories of persons:

    - those of limited notability who go out of their way to gain the attention of various media outlets, namely reality television personalities.

    - those who use their access to such outlets to promote a particular commercial or ideological message.

In the area of news reporting, the term is used to describe ideologues who lie and obfuscate for themselves, others, or their cause out of sincere devotion to their beliefs, and mercenaries who engage in the same conduct as services rendered in exchange for money or favors. Michael Moore and Ann Coulter are two examples of people who have been accused of being media <edited-LE>.

If Mrs. Sheehan is gonna play in the world of politics, then she had best be able to handle it. As the old saying goes, if you can't stand the heat then stay out of the kitchen.

Wikipedia is written by the public so anyone can write anything there almost the way I understand it. At any rate, I agree with you, OldRegular, that the term is offensive and should not be used.

Am I the only one who is wondering if Mrs. Sheehan is mentally ill? She certainly has the attention of the Democrat Party, which has endorsed her efforts as some 38 Democrat Congressmen have signed a letter to the President concerning Mrs. Sheehan. This is now a full-fledged Democrat Party summer outdoor event with lacking indoor plumbing no doubt.

Moderator Note: Edited out the term because this is a family friendly board. Please use discretion when posting snippets or links - What may not sound offensive to some, may be offensive to others - Thanks,

As far as her being a loose canon, one cannot know what major life altering event will throw a person over the edge. The woman has lost her precious son and is grieving. Grief sometimes causes people to do things that seem bizarre to others. I cannot judge her & I cannot imagine her loss. I will pray for her that she may find Jesus and find the peace that only He can give. My heart goes out to her and all the other moms who have lost sons and daughters fighting as their US military duty.

I know this will come as a surprise to some, but I agree with LE's last comment wholeheartedly.

I guess there are 12 verses in the King James Version that can't be posted on this family friendly board. [IMG]

Who would have thunk that parts of a popular Bible translation would be banned from the Baptist Board.

One problem with your assessment, Ken - the OP wasn't Scripture. [IMG]

So if a Scripture is posted that uses that word, it won't be edited?

With respect to the loss of her son having a devastating effect on her, I agree. Who among us who looses a loved one doesn't understand that? With respect to her misconduct in response to the loss, I disagree. Their may be reasons and, indeed, we should pray for anyone with a troubled heart or mind. However, no one, in grief or not, gets a free pass to go unchecked or unchallenged over their misbehavior. A person in grief is not justified to cause more grief, of the same or different type, to others. She is not justified to call the President a murder responsible for the death of her son. What she's doing is actually very disrespectful to her son's sacrifice and to that of others because it seeks to cheapen the value of those sacrifices. It is not her "grief" that is offensive but her misuse of grief to justify other purposes.

The word, in this context, was a term for somebody who is regarded as willing to set aside principles and personal integrity in order to obtain something for selfish motives.

It's not the particular word I would have used but, in many ways, it does fit the situation because she does seem to have set aside principles and integrity for media attention to advance her agenda of hatred.

It's, in my opinion, an over reaction to censor out this word just because some might not understand its usage or take offense to a word that, even in its other meanings, is openly used in the Holy Bible that even our children read.

Here the prophet Ezekiel used this term, and many related to it, to describe the wickedness of the Jewish nation.

Ezekiel used the connotation of selling one's self in prostitution to describe the misconduct of the nation. They had set aside their principles and personal integrity in order to obtain things for selfish motives and this greatly displeased God Almighty.

There are a lot of words in Scripture that are used only in that context and not in the living room of the family home--or so it was in the 1950s, the golden age of America.

That is also true as is the fact that profanity, which was once generally taboo in public, is now widely and loudly heard as is using the Lord's name in vain. That is not good at all. That is what should not be permitted in this forum.

The use of the word in question is not profane in the context used nor, for that matter, in its other more literal meaning. Both are used in the Holy Bible to describe sinful conduct of mankind.

This event was not come up with in the past week. Mrs. Sheehan has been writing mean-spirited columns for months - LINK.
