Same old, same old. President Bush's poll numbers are way down. Means very little for him personally since he will not be running for re-election in 2008.

Since all politics is local I don't know how much it will affect the 2006 elections, especially since I have no idea what the political landscape will look like in November of next year since political situations can change very quickly.

I agree that it is too soon to tell, but I think that there will be a Democrat victory in November 2006 because the press is out for blood now and because the black vote has been solidified for the Democrats.

I don't know. As the truth comes out, and he takes the reigns of this crisis away from the LA govs & mayors, his numbers will be back up. I'm not ready to give up on him, or his party.

So, do you think this is the beginning of a long second term?

Not quite sure what you mean, but it has been a very rough two terms for him. Certainly since WWII, this has to be the most trying time for a president. I not only think he's done a great job so far, but I will venture to say America will enjoy several years of posterity after his second term. Just like Reagan.

Well, I certainly respect your opinion, Bro. Curtis, I simply do not share it.

On a more personal note, I hope you are ready for the weekend. I will be headed to Jamestowne Island for a bike ride down the Colonial Parkway . I have never made it from Jamestowne to Yorktown, but I'm gonna try!!

God's Blessings to you and your family, Bro. Curtis,

Certainly his numbers would drop. The constant negative barrage against him has done its work.

    Its been used effectively before.

Are you REALLY equating someone with them? Exactly who is that person/group?

Since when hasn't the black vote been solidified for the democrats. However, it is worth noting that some NO blacks blame their black mayor and democrat governor.

Bush's numbers have dropped because of results of his policies:

    - Record budget deficit
    - Failure in Iraq
    - Rising costs in health care
    - Record high gas prices

The failure to assist the Katrina victims in a timely manner is just the latest of his troubles (and this one is not entirely his fault).

I have no doubt that his numbers will bounce back. The American people are remarkably forgiving.

He is not the best president of recent decades, nor is he the worst.

The black vote has been threatening to vote Republican. Only a few thousand blacks voting Republican would spell certain defeat for the Democrats. However, this disaster has been called racist in the response so the Democrats have shored up their base for November 2006. Look for a GOP defeat in November 2006. Don't forget that the far-right also wants the war ended immediately.

I'm not equating them with anyone. Just using Joseph Goebbels little tactic as an eye catching example. The Liberals and most media are using "the big lie" tactic. Its no wonder the Presidents poll numbers would fall.

Its used worlwide in varying degrees.

That's fine, just as long as you acknowledge that fact.

    Have a great weekend,

BiR, what is your personal take on what will happen politically next November and also on the issues of Iraq, hurricane disaster relief, and the replacement of Sandra Day O., the pillar of salt?

    1. Hi, CMG: hope your weekend is as great as mine.
    2. That depends upon how they handle things. Should they organize and make a united charge, they could take back Congress. But that is if and only if they resort to Rove's tactics and hit the GOP incumbents hard on these issues. Should they decide to do that, they can cause some serious damage.
    3. I am not sure about this. From what I hear, Roberts has no intention of overturning Roe v. Wade, just like the Administration. I sincerely doubt that the next nomination will have any desire to do this either. Abortion is only an issue during elections.
    4. I am not sure I understand the reference to Lot's wife. Care to expound upon that one?

    Regards,
    BiR

BiR just a composite view of the polls, fox did
seem to follow the others but then they do not
account for a good 10% which is higher than all
    the rest.

I tend to believe the WSJ poll and the next round
of polling may have him in the high 30's as an
average mean. The speech which I thought was
very good at the end may have gave pause to his
extreme right base...on free republic they seem
to be running hot and cold.

This country is being badly managed.imho.

    sincerely
    Aslanspal

</font>[/QUOTE]Sandra Day O. was the swing vote to legalize sodomy in the Texas case. She more or less turned Democrat after she got on the court but then some said she never was much of a Republican. She certainly betrayed Reagan.

I think that the GOP will be lucky to retain a majority in both houses of Congress next year.

I do not see the war in Iraq ending anytime soon. The Arab League seems to have plenty of men who will die as homocide bombers.

BiR, you bring up an interesting point about Roberts. He does seem like the type not to rock the boat. Roe v. Wade has the platform support of the Democrat Party and all of the people who make a good living in the abortion industry. I am guessing that Medicaid is being used to pay for abortions.

It will be interesting to see if Bush can get another near conservative on the court. He might have to put a Democrat on. Frist has shown that he is unwilling to toe the line.
