How I would love to agree with you here...but I can't. Not only can Hillary win in 08, but I believe that short of her party going absolutely stark raving lunatic mad like they did last year, she will win in 08. All she has to do is turn one or two Red States and she is in. Further, the GOP will be very weak in 08 with no really good candidates or even an incumbent waiting in the wings.

I totally disagree. I don't think Condoleezza will run(unless our draft effort actually works) but I think if she did run she would not only win the GOP nomination but become the first woman and the first African-American president of these United States.

To democrat pols, it's all about revenge. The issues don't matter nearly as much as getting back at Republicans for the impeachment of Clinton.

Since impeachment is their ultimate goal and they can't get there without continuously demonizing Bush, the slams and slurs and accusations will continue. Nothing else matters.

They'd sacrifice a few thousand casualties here at home to achieve their goals. The goal is handcuff Bush to hinder his efforts at fighting the War on Terror and impeach for those efforts.

If we do have a terrorist attack here, they'll blame him for not doing enough and try to impeach him for that.

Hillary understands the strategies her husband used at the advice of his advisor Dick Morris: "Campaign from the center, govern from the left".

One state is all she needs to convince that she is a moderate. The only thing that could stop Hillary now is the looney left of her own party.

Like it or not, Hillary Clinton is our next president.

 

One boon to the Reds - with all the focus on Bush's illegal wiretapping, Alito has been moved to the backburner by the Blues. The hearing starts in January - will he sail through while everyone is preoccupied with Snoopgate?

 

I think he'll be confirmed after a bit of resistance. The Dems won't want to be seen as obstructionist right now because it isn't as politically helpful, but to keep from alienating some of their base, they'll need to give some token resistance. Other than that, all they have to do is basically to sit on their hands until they gain some seats in 06 and the presidency in 08. They'll attack Bush on the abuse of power issue and Iraq, topics which will likely gain them support from voters, instead of on Alito (read: Abortion), which will only polarize the voters.

 

If we get the voter ID law enacted in Wisconsin (either thru the normal process or a constitutional amendment) before 2008, that would make at least one. Kerry definitely carried Wisconsin in 2004 because of Democrat vote fraud (as well as things like Democrats slashing the tires of Republican get-out-the-vote vans the night before the election), and Gore probably did in 2000 as well, although that margin was a bit wider so it's less conclusive.

 

Which is why I probably won't vote for POTUS next time. Hopefully I'll be raptured before I must choose between apathy or the lesser of two evils.

 

You will not be raptured. You'll likely die a natural death like most of us. Of course, not until you're an old woman, so you've got, what, another 50 or so years left???

Oh, and Hillary won't be the next POTUS.
