    Ken,

One simple question: does the U.S. Constitution prohibit the states from passing legislation outlawing particular immoral acts (drug manufacture, etc.)?

Not if a particular state's constitution gives that power to its state government.

I changed my registration to Libertarian a few months ago. I'm glad I did.

We don't register by party in Arkansas. If we did I would have to seriously consider registering as a Libertarian since I am one ideologically and I am not hopeful that the GOP will regain its footing in that area that it had during the days of when Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan were leading the party.

It's too late to save either of the major parties. Neither of them can be trusted to do the right thing.

The best you can hope for, is that the lesser of two venials is elected.

Better luck next time, I hope.

The third parties also influence the two majors. I may be mistaken, but I don't think the Republican Party had a position on abortion until the Right to Life Party started stealing its constituency.

The GOP took up a pro-life position on abortion with the rise to the top of Ronald Reagan who, while not always conducting his administration like it, was pretty much a libertarian ideologically.
