I wonder if Rush Limbaugh was given the same "benefit of the doubt" by the rest of you liberals.

    The Kennedys inherited their fortune from their father's illegal booze business. The apples dont fall far from the tree.

    Then why was he not given a breathalizer test? Why did the police drive him home?

    I have no idea about the facts of this case, nor does it really matter to me. All I know is since the early 60s, there has always been a Kennedy or Kennedy family involved in some kind of moral or legal nonsense. Must be in the DNA.

    </font>
Since you used my quote, I assume you label me a liberal. Oh well.

    Yes, I did give Limbaugh the benefit of the doubt when the allegations were not yet proven. The big difference is he said people who abuse drugs should be in prison. This is like when Jimmy Swaggart was vehemently preaching against sexual sins while visiting a prostitute. Can anyone say "log in thine own eye"?

    MP,

    Were the charges ever proven? If memory serves me correct, he wasn't even indicted, let alone have a day in court.

    Why didn't the police do a sobriety test on Kennedy?

    Likely for the same reason they didn't do one on Cheney when he was drinking and shot a fellow hunter.

    Not fair, but it happens.

    You should. They've been posted.

    I believe what you mean is that you don't know whether he was drunk or drug addled or not.

    With that, I agree.

    I don't remember exactly either, Joseph, and I am too lazy to Google it right now! [IMG]

    However, the fact that he plea bargained, as I seem to understand it, indicates some guilt, as well as the perponderance of evidence I heard about. In any case, the point is, I did assume Rush was not guilty until more was exposed. I don't know if he pleaded nolo contendre or not though.

    </font>
Actually, their illegal booze operation was only one source of their money. The other was from selling weapons to the IRA, which they, in turn, sold to the Nazis.

    Papa Joe knew very well that much of his fortune was coming from Hitler.

    Funny how Ted Kennedy's supporters never want to talk about that.

    He preferred to make a deal which included going back to rehab in exchange for the charges being dismissed if he stays clean (he is subject to random & periodic testing) for 18 months. He admitted prescription drug abuse back in 2003. (Link to wiki on rush))

    Apparently, he and Patrick Kennedy have something in common.

    Did Rush run his car into an obstacle after drinking alcohol with his meds, too? ;)

    Let's just hope that Patrick Kennedy doesn't drive Dick Cheney around on his next hunting trip...the police will be all over themselves with special treatment for both of them.
