The best was the old Herky the Hawkeye, the worst is the new Herky the Hawkeye (Since I an ancient old is about 20 years ago, before they gave him an afro haircut.

Nothing can top Osceola throwing a lit spear into the middle of the field.

That is something I would love to see live and in person just once.

I love watching Ralphie lead CU out onto the field before their games, I'm just thankful I am not one of the guys trying to keep up with him.

My favorite is the Bison, of course, at Oklahoma Baptist University.

I love watching Chief Osceola throw the spear into the ground - right before the Seminoles lose to Miami again.

I went to Florida State and saw the first year of Osceola. It was pretty cool, but really, it's just a kid wearing a Seminole outfit. Nothing really special about that. I like the real thing, so I'd have to vote for that buffalo at Colorado. If Alabama had a real elephant, that would get my vote.

Worst mascot: Miami Hurricanes. I think everyone in the southeast has seen enough of them in the past month. Besides, Miami has a guy dressed up as a seagull. What's up with that? Runner-up: Maryland Terrapins, which is some sort of turtle. Not exactly an intimidating mascot if you know what I mean.

Not a seagull, but an Ibis - hence the relationship to The Hurricances.

As the clouds become dark and a hurricane approaches, other birds look to the Ibis for leadership. The Ibis uses its instinct to detect danger and it is the last sign of wildlife to take shelter before a hurricane hits, giving warning that danger is imminent. As the storm passes the Ibis is the first to reappear, a sign that clear skies are approaching.

Sorry TD, looks like you will be seeing a lot more of Sebastian the Ibis this year.

td, I would love to see a real elephant at a Crimson Tide game. To see one lead the team out would be kind of neat.

I don't know if it qualifies as a "mascot", but I have always loved seeing the Sooner Schooner drive across the field after a touchdown.

Worst masot is Bevo, of course.
