What 1-A college has the tuffest fball sched. this year?

Yeah ND has a very tough schedule... my vote.. almost any team in the SEC..

 

Yes, ND does have a tough one this year - especially compared to prior years when they would have one or two tough games. Is it wrong to pray for them to go 0-11??

I would agree though that the SEC is the conference - year in and year out.

 

You southerners love you percious SEC.- I do not doubt that the SEC is good, its just not as good as you think it is.

My vote goes to ND, even though I can't stand them.

If they would join a conferance they would have a much better schedule and a better chance at the national title.

Tough to argue with the UNC schedule being the toughest. The ACC is tougher than ever with Miami, VA Tech, and Boston College in there. And UNC probably has the toughest non-conference schedule out there with Wisconsin, Louisville and Utah.

WOW -- toughest schedule in the Big 11 is Ohio State at #24. Most of the schools' schedules are in the 50's. Who would've thought???

 

Who cares about sheduale stteangth anyhow, ultimatly it comes down to winning football games, and certain teams do that better than anyone else.

 

Guess Texas will be glad to hear they're #36. Perhaps can finish third in nation this year.

 

My GA Tech Yellow Jackets came in 2nd on that CBS list.

With non conference games against Auburn and Georgia and then an ACC schedule that includes Miami and VA Tech we have a tough year. I guess the only bright spot is we don't have to play Florida State.

I think the ACC has topped out the SEC with the new additions. I do have to admit that the SEC does have better tailgate parties and prettier girls.

 

Agreed. The ACC has now topped the SEC in football. (We were already ahead in basketball and football -- and way ahead in academics.)

They probably do have better tailgate parties - but then again, aren't you a Baptist preacher??

Prettier girls than the ones at GaTech??? That goes without saying doesn't it, though University of Miami helps in this regard.

Any schedule ranking that has Tennessee 49th this year is flawed.

They play at UF and LSU in consecutive weeks on the road and also travel to ND and Alabama. Both UF and LSU have been picked by experts to play for the national title. ND is what it is. The concensus is that Alabama has one of the best defenses, if not the best, in the country. Georgia is the only good team that UT gets at home.

Florida, OTOH ranked 27, gets UT and FSU at home and travels to LSU the week after the terrible Miss. State. UGA is played at a neutral site after a off week.

UT and UF both play LSU, Vandy, and Alabama from the west but UT gets a decent Ole Miss team rather than MSU.

Out of conference, UT has ND (away), UAB, and Memphis which are all better than Wyoming or La Tech. FSU (in the Swamp) provides balance for UF.

Out of conference is about a wash, while UT definitely has the tougher in conference schedule.

Who ever did the list was either biased or needs to change their medication.

 

Tennessee's schedule is regarded by most as one of the toughest 3 or 4 in the country. Tennessee's schedule ranks near the top of the toughest in nation category yearly.

I would also agree that Notre Dame has a tough schedule (for once, jettisoning the military academies).

I just cannot concede that the ACC is better in football than the SEC. Time needs to prove some things in the ACC.

 

UT only gets tougher next year when the open with Cal, Air Force, UF, and Marshall.

The ACC improved significantly with the Big East additions. Kentucky, Vandy, Ole Miss, and MSU don't help the conference the way they are playing now. The four lowest teams in the ACC are probably better right now- Duke, UNC, Wake, Maryland.

The SEC looks better 2-8. Whoever is SEC #1 will probably prove that they're at least as good as Miami.

 

Just noticed that the list only had USC 7 places below the Vols.

The PAC-10 is so weak that any team in the SEC or ACC except for Duke or Miss State would finish in the top half. Out of conference, USC plays ND, Hawaii, Arkansas, and Fresno State.

Nope. Don't see any LSU's, UF's, UT's, FSU's, or Miami's on that schedule.

 

Sorry that you cannot concede that the ACC is better. I grew up on SEC football. It has always been the best conference -- much better than the Big 11 or Pac 10, so I can understand your feelings. Plus, the ACC was always the BASKETBALL conference.

However, with the addition of VTech, Miami, and Boston College, plus the others -- FSU, Clemson, GTech, UNC, Maryland, NCState, etc., I think the ACC surpasses the SEC in football too. Plus, there are fewer weak schools in the ACC.

It's also interesting that the ACC (on average) are the smaller, private and/or more academic colleges compared to the big, state liberal arts universities you find in the SEC.

 

ACC has not been much better than the big ten in Basketball. Look how many Big Ten teams make deep runs into the NCAA tournament.

As for ACC football being better than the SEC this year, that is a tough call. I think that the ACC has a slight edge this year.

 

Agreed that the Big 11 is better than most at BBall and close to the ACC. I would definitely put them at a strong second. However year to year, the ACC is always at/near the top and is stronger top to bottom -- Duke, UNC, GTech, Maryland, Wake, etc. (Also, didn't Michigan cheat the year they won the title and have to go on probation because of that? Sorry, just had to bring that up.)

Vandy is the only year-in, year-out push over in the SEC. Though MSU and UK have hit rough times lately, both have played competitive in the last few years. Duke hasn't been consistently competitive in my lifetime nor has WFU. NCSU is very inconsistent as are UNC and Maryland.

Clemson hasn't achieved consistency either.

 

The strength of schedule is determined BEFORE the teams play? What a bunch of nonsense! How in the world could anyone know this, do they have a magic 8 ball of something?

Hey, how about this, why don't we let them play a few games before we start ranking them, even the BCS as dumb as they are, doesn't rank folks until several weeks into the season!
