    Hello Everyone,

BaptistBoard.com will be getting a new look this weekend! We are upgrading the BB to use vBulletin, which is in our estimation the best forum software available. This will allow us to...

    - Provide many updated features not available on the current board.
    - Eliminate some of latency experienced when accessing the board.
    - Provide for faster searches.
    - Allow for Premium Membership services such as Ad-Free browsing, etc...

Please pray with us that this upgrade will go without a hitch!

    Thanks,
    Andrew T.
    Webmaster

    Just a quick question:

Will we lose all our PM's? Some of mine have some good information. Do I need to copy and paste them somewhere?

    Thanks,

    Joseph Botwinick

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I asked about this very thing a while ago, and I am excited to see it come to the Baptist Board!

Everything should be imported over correctly but you may want to save them just in case. We will be making a full backup before the import.

I often wondered why Catholic Answers had such a better site than we do. Now that I've gone to the vbulletin web site, I recognize the look & feel and I see that the Cats are using that software already, so we're catching up.

    Let the Second Reformation begin!

I dunno. Where I came from, if the Catholics did it, we didn't!

    Hmm, good point.

Let us aver, then, that there is an unbroken succession of New Testament software principles going all the way back to the Apostles, and upon these principles the vBulletin code was written, inerrant in the originals, and the Catholics only use it as a ploy to seduce more surfers into their site. Once sucked in, the unfortunates are taken to a vault under Vatican City where the PHP is stripped away and the heretics are forced to play Pong, in BASIC, on a TRS-80 Model 1 for twenty hours a day until they utter the words "the Pope holds upon this earth the place of God Almighty."

If we get banned before this weekend, can we start over under the new format?

Dunno. I used my Model 100 (2.3 MHz, 32K, 300 bps) and dialed in to the Vatican system this morning and did a search. When I got to the RELICS directory, it returned an error message:

    FILE TOO LARGE
    Abort, Retry, Ignore, Fail?

Hey there, have some respect! I learned to write my first program on a TRS-80! With a whopping 64K and two-character variable names.

OK, how intuitive will this new board software be?

    Hey guys,

When I stated doing doctoral work in 1997 I was using an old 4MB lap top my wife's company had used for training and had thrown away. I used an old Okidata dot-matrix printer that was as big as a brontosaurus that struck twice on each line. Now that is old.

It took about 30 minutes to print out a 30 pp. grad paper.

    What an antique!!! LOL!

The thing of it was, I learned how and it got me by.

    sdg!
