Do you have a telephone in your room?

I do! I have my own phone line. But I also have to pay for it. It is the only way I would get to spend much time online. I like it

This is one of those things that to me should not be very important, its a privilage so if a teen breaks a rule take it away but trust them to make good choices.

I have my own phone, but I don't have my own line. My sister should have her own one! The girl is forever on the phone to her crazy friends (they're all in 7th or 8th grade).

 

I do have a telephone in my room, but my parents say that I can't just call. I just moved too, so I don't use the phone really at all. I am on the net more. My parents have made it so if we use the phone, then we have to let them know. We can't just call all the time. And we can't call long distance without permission for calling long distance.

 

No, I do't have a phone. But I spend WAY too much time on the 1 line that we have. The other 1 is just for internet & fax machine. But hey, if you feel that the child is responsible or they want to prove themselves, I'd say give it a shot! Love~Ana

 

From an adult hopefully soon to be parent perspective,

No...My children will NOT have a separate phone line in their room where I cannot monitor who they are talking to and who they are chatting with (Internet) at all times. I know that probably sounds strict, but I do not want that temptation for my kids and I don't want my kids getting caught up in something that could hurt them especially when there is something I can do about it.

Though every kid in the nation will probably not agree with you , you give sound advice. I have a telephone in my room (and my own line) after earning my parents trust.

I have a phone in my room. My parents let me have it in my room after I reached the age of 13. I don't really talk on the phone very often so if they wanted to they could take it and I wouldn't matter. If I wanted to in my room I could always take the cordless phone.

 

My daughter has a phone in her room, but she hardly uses it. She'd rather use the cordless in our living room. She always asks before making a call and she has never abused the decision I made.

BTW, I always monitor her on the internet... I like AOL for the blocking they have for younger users.

 

Yes i have my own phone line too!!! it make things easier around here if i'm not tieing up my parents line!!
