It reminds me of my pastor whenever I hear it. It talks about a church were a pastor has preached God's word for forty years,and how the people keep leaving, one by one, and still he stays by the stuff, preaching the truth.
The chorus says: As he stand there this morning in a near emtpy church house his opening remarks are these words: "There's a Heaven to gain, and Hell to shun. The way is still straight. One of my favorite songs by him. I also love "Magnificent Obsession" which is on that album too

 

I have the cd "Wings As Eagles" by Ron Hamilton. It is absolutely a great cd.

I didn't know so many Christians listened to such BAD music. I don't believe that most of the titles of music I saw on this sight glorifies God! I am rather surprised. I am sorry everyone, but doesn't God say to listen to Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs in the Bible??!!! Well, anyways... is there anyone here who actually listens to good christian music. Like Northland, the Wilds, Clearwater, etc.??? If so POST and talk to me. Thats the kind of music I think glorifies God.

 

Yes, I did see some bad music like marylin manson, and I don't understand how anybody can listen to that. But what I don't understand is why do you ask "is there anyone here who actually listens to good christian music?" Can't you see? There are many who posted good christian music! Good grief! Maybe not the EXACT same artists/groups as you prefer, but its still good christian music(like Avalon, Mercy Me, Caedmons Call, the one I posted, etc)
Sorry, but I just thought it kinda stupid for someone to ask that without looking fully at what others posted..unless you've never heard of those artists/groups that they mentioned, and assum because its not what you listen to its bad. Come on now.

Ok ok... well, here's my response. I understand there may be some people here who have posted some good music, but personally, contemporary christian music is not really on my favorite list. It depends on the quality of the music and if you listen to it just becuase you like the sound of it... then its wrong. But if you listen to it becuase of the words, then thats a different story. Some CCM bands tend to sing their music to capture peoples attention instead of God's. I am not saying everyone but most. I believe if the music glorifies God... then GREAT! but if you think that it could cause a contraversy, then try to stay away. I don't really want to get in an argument here, but I do just want to let you know that there is excellent music out there that God loves and if you truly want to do whats right, then listen to it. CCM may or may not be bad, but I don't listen to it. If you want to, thats fine with me; but just ask yourself if what your listening to glorifies God. alright!?

Please just try to maybe listen to something like: "Lord of All", "Wings as Eagles", "Almighty Unchangeable", "Thanks be to God", etc. They are great! They speak the gospel right of the bat and do not try to win someones attention.

Don't take any of this the wrong way. Please! I am just trying to speak out for what I believe is right. And again I am not saying that all music, like CCM, is wrong. But if you listen to the cds that I mentioned above, you will reconize the difference between them.
