I just wanted to start a topic. No there is reason behind this topic, uh let's see. In my own personal life, spiritually that is, I have been struggling in a few areas and I was wondering lately if there are others who struggle with the same things. You can post adive or whatever it doesn't matter, I just wanted to know.
I struggle w/ alot of peer pressure, w/ drinking and smoking and stuff like basically. Any insight? or am i the only one?

HEY!!! I myself have never been pressured to smoke or drink and stuff, but I do know that these verses will really help you: proverbs 20:1-Isaiah 61:1- John 8:32- Romans 6:14- Romans 8:2- I Corinthians 6:9-11- I Corinthians 9:26-27- Galatians 5:1&13, Ephesians 5:15-18. Try to memorize these b/c Hebrews 4:12 says it is powerful and pierces the soul and spirit! Ask for help from God. After all, you don't want to these things b/c it displeases God, I suppose that is you reason! Also keep in mind that to be in the middle of God's will(not smoking, etc.) is better than to be having fun (smoking w/ your friends) b/c IT IS GOD'S WILL! I guess that this is probably serious, so ask your pastor or youth pastor for books and counseling. You should find a strong Christian in your church ask them if they could be your accountability partner. Make it someone w/ lots of Bible knowledge and that is very stong! He/She would ask you every other day, every week, or every other! pray w/ each other. I am really interested in helping you and have some stuff I heard in church that can help you! I mail it to you thru this website email. It should notify you. I plan to mail it to you tomrrow (Saturday!)

I stuggle and battle it seems at times, daily with my quick temper. (As Paul said, "I die daily!")
And it's kind of odd, because I can have patience about really big things, but blow up about really little, insignificant things.
And when I do lose it, I LOSE IT! I yell, and hit things. (never people though! :D ) I actualy bruised my hands once when I slammed them down on a table.
I'll get angry quick, but then it just hits me "Abby, you are a saved person. You can not go around losing your temper over stupid stuff. Stop it, and get right!"
And then I cry. I cry untill I'm almost sick, because I know I can't take back what I've done. I hate hurting people, and I know in anger I say things they'll always remember, and I can't change it. I can apologize, and they can forgive, but it still happened.
And though I don't lose my temper nearly as much as I did before I got saved, that old nature, that rage in me can come up so fast that it surprises me.
"If any man thinketh he stand take heed lest he fall" (that's from memory so I apologize if I misspelled, or forgot punctuation) I've had to deal with that verse over and over.
It's surely a blessing to know God will forgive, and cleanse me when I fail, and He'll never bring it up. To Him it's gone!
And I read in Psalms 52 just yesterday. And I figure, if David, a man after God's own heart wrote that, then there's hope for me, and for any other Christian who struggles with something. And everyone has something, weither they admitt to it or not.
We just don't all have a hard time with the same things.
"Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ"
    ~Miss Abby

ebr, I'm in my thirties and while it gets easier the more you grow in Christ, everyone has their own personal weaknesses that may be at least a bit of a struggle throughout a lifetime.
I don't say this to discourage you, but to be honest and offer a bit of insight.

If you give in now it only makes it easier to give in later in life. Some teens do like I did and say "I have plenty of time to quit smoking", or "I have plenty of time to quit drinking" once they start, but the truth is that if these are your temptations you are an easy target for addiction, and what that means in the long run is you'll have plenty of time to continue abusing your body because once you fall for something that makes it sooo much harder to say no the next time or to quit once you're addicted and trust me, if you don't have the will power to say no when you're NOT addicted you're gonna be in for the fight of a life time if you ever do become addicted for real and decide to start trying to say no again.

The best option is to remove yourself from situations where these things happen if at all possible. It's much easier to say no if you're not around for the offer. :D

You know what's interesting? Almost everyone remembers who the Christians were in their high school. Why is that? It's because they were different and stood up for what they believed. Years later they can recall incidents that happened or words that Christian said that made them think or even hit them years later and caused conviction.
On the other hand, there's a lot of kids in high school that called themselves Christians and were forgotten because they were seen as hypocrites when they started giving into peer pressure. You may gain a few cheers by giving into it, but you will lose the respect of everyone as a Christian and won't be taken very seriously if you try to witness in the future.

Don't be hard on yourself, remember we're God's children and many times children mess up. With my children if they do wrong, we do the discipline and we get on with it. We are humans and God knows we will fall and sin but part of God forgiving us is, us accepting that forgivness and letting it go.

Struggles with particular sin is very difficult. Hehehe..normally when I pray about my weaknesses I literally talk to God this way...God, this is my weakness we both know it, I don't want to do it because it's wrong but I know I can't promise that I won't give into the temptation, please help me remain strong. God knows your heart, be honest with him and tell him.
