Again, good evening -

In our reading in 1Samuel we see the return of the Ark to Israel. The signifigance of the cows with new calves is that a cow is slow to leave her newborn. This added to the test that the Philistine diviners. The story ends with Samuel reluctantly agreeing to appoint a king over Israel after God instructs him to do so. It is a good example of "be careful what you ask for."

In Mark we read the story of the rich young man. This account is told in three of the Gospels and each gives us a little more information on him. Matthew tells us that he was young, Luke states that he was a ruler of some sort, and Mark tells us that Christ's answer to him was not a rebuke, but was said in love. His wealth was what was holding this man back. The commandments to which he said that he had adhered were viewable to the outside. The love he had for his money was his inner struggle.

In 2Corinthians, Paul instructs the church that church discipline which he had outlined in 1Corinthians 5 is not to be over extended and urges the church to take the repentant brother back into their fold. It is a possibility that the individual spoken of in this passage is indeed the "immoral brother" from 1 Corinthians.
I would also add that the Book of 2Corinthians is supposed to have the most autobiographical references to the Apostle Paul.
