Many times over the years I have come across a scripture and misapplied it... Usually this is because I have taken the scripture out of context and maybe a kind brother in the church will point out my error and I will say well how come I didn't see that before?... The light finally went on and the Lord gave me the answer when I needed it even though I read the scripture many times... The Lord has been gracious to give us life and I wake up every morning thanking the Lord that I have seen another day and can serve him... So what is this teaching?... I am suppose to hate this life the Lord gave me or am I suppose to nurture it in the service to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his people?... I firmly believe that it is not me but God by his Sovereign Grace and love gave me and all of his tokens of grace eternal life that they did not deserve or earn by anything they did... I think this scripture has more to do with Apostle Paul's statement I am crucified with Christ... Also take up your cross and follow me... What are your thoughts... Brother Glen

John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

    Here are my thoughts...

    Psalms 127:1
Except the LORD build the house,
they labour in vain that build it:
except the LORD keep the city,
the watchman waketh but in vain.

It seems to me that Mr. Gf50 posts snippets of scripture that imply we are all Tares.

I think anyone who is friends with the world makes himself/herself an enemy of God. The "world" as used by John often refers to the corrupt and misplaced value system of fallen mankind. Thus if we treasure worldly treasure, i.e. honor among men, wealth, etc, we may be rich in the eyes of the world, but poor in faith toward God.

In a nutshell you don't return from what you have been delivered from... You hate the life you once had separate from God and Jesus Christ... Brother Glen

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

    Matthew 21:45
And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables,
they perceived that he spake of them.

    Isaiah
    Chapter 45
    7 I form the light,
and create darkness: I make peace,
and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

I think you are looking at the result as if it was the cause. If you rely on the world's value system you will gain nothing, but if the world has no value to you, you will be able to go all in for Christ.
