How old is your church? If you don't mind give us a little church history.

Church history huh? Well it all started back in the New Testement....ok, ok, I'll stop! I'll give the history behind my church!
Thirty Five years ago was when it was started.
My pastor was born and raised here, but when he got saved he left for Bible college in Tennessee. He stayed in that area after he finished school to pastor a church. God burdened his heart for his home town who still had no Independant Fundamental Baptist Church, so with nothing but a burden and faith that God would provide, he packed up his family and moved back here to pastor a church that didn't exist.
He rented a little building in town for a week and knocked on doors sharing his burden. He held a week long revival and within the end of the week had nine people who wanted to be members. Our pastor already knew what the church would be called. Open Door Baptist Church. Because of Revelation 3:8 (I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name) He wanted our church to do what that verse talks about.
In 1970 the church building was almost finished, and Dr. Harold Sightler came to preach the dedication service of the first IFB church in Gaffney South Carolina. We've been going ever since, glory to God! We still stand for the same things that Preacher Batchelor stood for when the church was started. We still stand for the Bible, for the fundamentals, for serving the Lord. I feel so blessed to have been raised in this church, to have been taught right from the time I was a baby.
We'll celebrate our Homecoming in a few weeks. Thirty five years!

Well, in 2003 we celebrated out 30th. Our present song leader, Bro. Dale, was a member of a local southern baptist church, and felt that it wasn't doctrinally straight so he set out to find what was right, he knew he was a baptist, so, he found a church in a neighboring town and he and a couple others started car pooling there. Then a preacher from another town became interested in helping us start a church, then he helping and after a few moves and pastors later we are what we are today, a bible believing Independent Fundamental Baptist Church, sending preacher boys to bible college.

Our pastor has been here almost 19 years, longer than I have been alive, he came and visited me in the hospital, when I was born.

Celebrated 100 Years last summer, had a big celebration. It was awesome to hear many stories about the history of the church and see pictures of folks that have been part of this ministry. It was awesome to be able to celebrate what God has done in our church over the past century, and to see the heritage that we have.

OUr church is 106 years old. It was an encampment for Jackson's army as they headed toward New Orleans. The old federal highway ran right thru our property.

Its also still chock full of indian pottery shards and arrowheads. Lots of history, and we'll never know it all.

Now, as for being a GOLDEN OLDIE, ...ahem.
