Yes I'm a babe in that respect.

I do get lost reading and have a hard time understanding. But I read twice a day and am praying for God to give me understanding of His Word.

The whole context of Romans 14 has to do with food and drink, but in some other things it could be applied.

In your case you have a "clean" job. No one at your church is upset, your function is an honorable one - keeping watch over the activities insuring safety and preventing crime.

There are jobs which would be improper, rather not mention jobs pertaining to lust, etc.

Good, stay in the word as much as possible.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Presumably your pastor is a man of faith, does he know you are a young Christian?

No, you were right on base. You correctly understand those verses. Well done. :)

Sometimes we don't know the assumptions we're making, nor the misconceptions we bring to the table.

Then we'll build up doctrine from a faulty premise and impose it upon the scriptures.

There was a time when every "real" Christian supposedly knew it was wrong to play cards, dance, go to a pool hall or movie theater, etc...and heaven forbid one should work at a place that peddled that worldliness.

    Good council in this thread...

Hi Seeker, I reckon I know exactly what you're talking about. Is the Casino in a town that starts with Ch, and bumps right up against the National Forest? You don't have to answer if you don't want to, but I think I know the area pretty well.

I had an acquaintance who went to my Church for a while, and he also worked at what I believe is the same exact Casino you're at. He worked in the kitchen. He had similar feelings that you're having, actually...identical feelings. My old pastor talked to him and and said something along the lines of "being light in darkness". I wasn't privy to the conversation, but this acquaintance of mine talked about it with myself and a couple other guys.

Thanks, that's how I've been thinking of it.

You are providing for your family. The work that you do can (and probably does) bring glory to God. You are in a place where you can influence people through your walk. You see people constantly who could use your prayers. If you leave, are they going to get those intercessory prayers?

If you feel uncomfortable, look for something else. Until you find something else honor God in what you are doing now.
