Agreed, Tater. The reading I have done on Herod the Great speaks of him also murdering his three sons, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and uncle.

His appointment as ruler over Judea broke the Maccabean Dynasty which ruled for about a century. He had a severe distrust of that family even though he married into it.

There is quite a bit on the net about Herod the Great. He is credited with building the Massada, amphitheaters, monuments, pagan altars, and his greatest accomplishment, the Herodian Temple in Jerusalem, completed 68 years after his death.

Glad your posting in here, Tater. [IMG]

    Persians are Indo-European, not Semitic.

Isn't it depressing how common guys like Herod are throughout human history?

Psalm 3: The superscription of the psalm associates this lament with David's flight from his own son. Such trust in God's care is a proper setting in which to read Ps 3.

Gen 9:16, And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. This is the promise by God that the destruction of the human race would not occur again. Gen 9:8-17, the covenant between God and Noah represents a binding commitment between God and humans. God initiates a covenant never to destroy humanity with water again, and the sign of this covenant forever is God's RAINBOW placed in the sky. (bow) This is one of my favorite verses Gen 9:16.

Genesis 6:2 has been puzzling me for a while. I always wondered who exactly the sons of God were. I know that this is a spot in the bible where the Jehovah's witnesses get their Jesus as an angel doctrine. They believe that the sons of God are angels, and that the offspring of a human and an angel produce evil men.

I just wish it were more clear who the sons of God are.

Thank you for continuing the Yearly Bible reading...but

I would like to read the commentary section and I can not get it to come up.
Please direct me on how to access the commentary for the daily reading.
    Thanks
Keep up the good job because many of us appreciate it!
