I hear that Zondervan has a new study bible from DA Carson that is much better than my 2005 edition. I was thinking about getting it but am not sure of the 2011 edition. I hear from some it is gender neutral but then again perhaps the Greek text may be gender neutral in some areas. I know that DA Carson is a highly qualified scholar and if he likes the 2011 edition then it may be okay so what do you say? Stick with the 84 version or move to the 2011 version?

I'm staying with my 84 version. I don't see any advantage to going to the 2011 edition.

(I have the 2011 version on my phone and tablet.)

Neither do I but I hear the new study bible is far better than the 2005 version.

Ah, I see what you are getting at. I can't comment on that. My '84 is the study version, my e-Bible is not.

Sure, I can buy books with my Droid. I just don't see the need for the 2011 NIV study Bible.

Just bought it for $15. Much cheaper than the $50 for the bonded leather print edition. It looks very good so far.

I NIV study Bibles - concordance & cross reference, & like many churches, the 1984 version is in the pews.

I like to copy Scripture into my sermons, but the 1984 version has been completely removed from the web, so I can no longer quote what the congregation has in the pew Bibles.

Bad move by the NIV publishers.

The DA Carson edition pretty much same as the Esv study bible, just comes down to which version preferred, I just do not like the inclusive kanguage of the 2011, much prefer 1984!

Then you would also not like the inclusive "kanguage" of the the ESV, NET and CSB. That is, of course if you were into consistency.

I don;t like the Net Bible, too free for me, and don't think the Niv 1984/esv nearly as much inclusive language in them, and know Nkjv/Nasb less !

I don't remember the exact stats, but the ESV has about 30% more inclusive language than the 1984 NIV. The HCSB has around 40% more. The New CSB will probably have around 60% more --which is about the same as the NET. Will the CSB also meet with your distain?

I do not hate them, but much prefer the 1984 Niv, and better still the Nasb/Nkjv ones due to this issue!

You did not answer my question which is your continual habit. Let me rephrase:
Since the CSB is much closer to the NIV in its inclusive language --would you condemn it as you have the NIV on countless ocassions? Would you charge it with being PC and caving to a feminsit agenda? If you will not condemn it --why not?

Not condemning either version, but do think that both did not need to do so much inclusive language, as both of their prior versions avoided that problem!

Hello all. Having read through the NIV2011 and the HCSB in it's entirety, I do see more use of inclusive language in the NIV2011 than I do the HCSB (the HCSB seems to use it at about the same rate as the ESV). However, I don't see a problem with the NIV2011's use of inclusive language...it's much more conservative than the NRSV.

You are Mr. Inconsistent and a fibber to boot. Of course you have condemned the NIV countless times.

Pick out the verses from the CSB that you think went too far with inclusive language. Do some homework for a change. Be specific too. That would also be a welcome change.
