This is false. You have been told before that I can count of two people coming to faith. But there are probably others.

So, when you said you had not won a soul to Christ you were not telling the truth?

Tweet today from Sproul's co-pastor of St. Andrew's Chapel (the church's bulletin online shows a typical sabbath schedule today, with just a brief blurb in the back of the bulletin about a later weekday Reformation commemoration):

"today will be far less about the Reformation and more about the gospel"

Both our services yesterday were on the Reformation as well as last Wednesday,
Yesterday evening was a powerful Gospel sermon on Justification by faith.
Our preacher was Gilbert McAdam who was in the Philippines for nearly 20 years. Originally as a teacher of Hebrew (and I think, Greek) At the Grace Ministerial Acadamy attached to Cubao Reformed Baptist Church. and later as pastor of Calvary Reformed Evangelical Church, Manila, a mainly Chinese congregation Earlier this year he retired to Wick in Scotland and became pastor of Wick Harbour Mission Baptist Church, a church with only five members, all elderly women.

Originally it was a mission to deep sea fisherman, but there are no fisherman there anymore due to EU regulations.

Wick is a remote place, The nearest town is 58 miles away and the journey by train is over 4 hours, and over 2 hours by car.

Gilbert has Invited all the ministers of other churches in the town to a discussion on the Reformation tomorrow evening..

I don't think anyone "wins souls for Christ" we preach the gospel to them and the Father draws them to the Son.

What is the formula for reforming apostasy? Salvation by works and/or works/faith is still bogus religion going back to the offering of Cain. Where will we spend eternity? Beware the wolves dressed like sheep.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

And if this should come to the governor’s ears, we will win him over and keep you out of trouble.”

    1 Corinthians 9:19
For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more.

    1 Corinthians 9:20
    To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law;

    1 Corinthians 9:21
to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law.

    1 Corinthians 9:22
To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some.

    1 Corinthians 9:24
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.

I don't mind that you disagree, though I'm not sure why you disagree that I was answering your question "How will your church celebrate the Reformation?"

The one area that used to bother me was the hope of folks like Luther to reform the Papist, rather then remove completely from that sort.

    Here is the problem.

Some take his and others who wanted to reform, yet not separate from, and not see the social, political, and theological bias that must also accompany one so compromised.

Therefore when reading from these, as I do all authors, I attempt to understand their writing by recognizing that just as all, except the Lord Jesus Christ, the words carry agenda.

In doing so, it is hoped that the light of Scriptural principles will pierce my own dullness so that, when I write, it may in some way be less conformed to some worldly scheme, and be formed to that of my Savior.

This is why I hold the separatists in esteem, also.

They were the only folks from the earliest church who took matters of faith and practice as more than ritual and tradition.

Not what he thinks. He thinks he has won hundreds of souls to Christ.

Paul used that language (of winning souls). I don't think @TCassidy is using the term to refer to his efforts but "Christ in him" (that is, his obedience and work for the Kingdom) - as Paul used the idea of "winning souls". In other words, where @evangelist6589 seems to be expecting God to somehow use and bless his work, others pray that God will be glorified as they strive to walk in those things God has purposed for them to do.

Never let the Bible and scripture get in the way of a good modern Calvinistic talking point.

You know half the time people use the Prayer button I an not sure what they are wanting to communicate, but it looks like they are wanting to use it as a means to disagree. What an abuse of it and the idea of prayer.
