Matthew 26:28: "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."

Although God commanded the shedding of it, the blood of bulls and goats does not forgive sins. Under covenant contract, the blood of the one who violates the contract must be shed. The terms are clear. You sin, you die.

Although Baptists rarely hold to covenant theology, I think that's a mistake. I think that you can't fit together the pieces of the puzzle without looking at scripture through the framework of the covenants.

    What are your thoughts?

Baptists have typically rejected Covenant Theology because it was seen as too closely aligned with paedobaptist Covenant Theology. However, history does not reject Baptist Covenant Theology out-of-hand. 16th and 17th century Particular Baptists did hold to what is now described as Covenant Theology, albeit from a distinctly Baptist perspective. Take a visit to 1689federalism.com for some informative resources on Baptist covenant theology. I believe you'll find it worth the visit.

Perhaps that's why I am out of step with the powers that be on Baptist fora.

Pity that the Bible translators divided the Bible into Testaments rather than Covenants.

Thanks, I've been to the site before and watched a couple of their videos. It's just a pity that so few embrace CT. Then again, very few understand and accept God's sovereignty in election. . .

I wish there were no separation at all. The separation causes many to think that only the "NT" applies to them or has anything to speak to them today.

In every thread I've been active in, you will clearly see non-Cals speaking of anything before the book of Mathew as if it doesn't matter at all. The OC is almost completely ignored by most, and when it preached or taught, "stories" are ripped out of context and made into something that resembles Aesops Fables.

I preached from Philippians 3:1-11 the other night. I also spoke out of 2 Corinthians 3 about the vail being upon Jews' hearts when they read the Law. Why is that vail there? They can not see the Christ in the OT. However, I can see Him all over the OT. Why? God removed the vail from me and blessed me to see Him for who He is, the Messiah.

Ppl want to say the OT is for the Jews and the NT is for us, the Gentiles. Balderdash!! If that's the case, then we don't have the Law, we don't have divorce, because those were given to the Jews. O O

Amen, Brother! The story of redemption begins with the first promise. The gospel is right there in Genesis 3:15!

Trying to understand God, man, sin, and redemption by starting at Mathew is like trying to understand a 600-page novel by starting to read it at page 400.
