Sounds like we may need a primer on what dead might mean. When a person dies, the spirit goes to be with the Lord or to a place separated from the Lord, probably not purgatory. See Luke 16. The physical body goes back to the elements from whence it came. It stinketh in a few days and pushes up daisies before long.

There is a second death. Some say there are a hundred verses talking about second death. Many seem confused as to what this is. This is an eternal death, separation from God, with Satan and his angels--plus all unbelievers--in a lake of fire which is never quenched. We all deserve to go there because of our depravity. Hell is real, Hell is hot--whether we believe it or not.

Jesus paid it all. The price is paid for our redemption--a price we could not pay. No one has to be eternally separated from The Creator.

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved--you and your family. See the adventures of Paul in Acts 16:31.

Death ain"t limbo folks. It is a separation.

Necromancers got stoned in the OT.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

No text says "God raised up Samuel" not even 1 Sam 28.

Rather we have "CONJURE up for me by thy familiar spirit (demon) whomever I shall name" = seance.

Those who think that God is the one at work via familiar spirits and demons - are not reading the Bible carefully.

    Here is what Saul did
    1 Chron 10
13 So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against the Lord, because of the word of the Lord which he did not keep; and also because he asked counsel of a medium, making inquiry of it, 14 and did not inquire of the Lord.

    Here is what God did

    1 Chron 10
14 and did not inquire of the Lord. Therefore He (God) killed him and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.

    1. The demon and the witch claim "power" over saints to "bring them up" -- God does not make that claim for them nor affirm their claim.
    2. The witch is the only one who "can see Samuel" according to HER. Not even Saul can see Samuel -- only the witch... via the demon...

What a "channel" for Samuel -- demon-to-witch... such is the claim of the seance... the claim of Satan.

What doctrine then is it -- that appeals to witches and demons for its claim to communicate with the dead?

When you can answer that question honestly to yourself - you are disabused of error on this point.

Luke 16 is a parable in which Abraham is the sovereign of all heaven and communication among the dead takes place between the dead in heaven and the dead in hades. Abraham is prayed to for his sovereign decision on who may be resurrected from the dead so that those who were formerly dead may then warn/minister-to the living.

No wonder R.C.Sproul and many others admit this parable is not at all speaking of the literal case in heaven.

Allegorize all you like, the spirit goes back to God or it is separated from God beyond forever. There is a first death and a second death. Now what?

Religious prittle prattle will not save the spirit from hell. Jesus died so we do not have to go there. It is finished. He is the only remedy for our total depravity.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

The Bible clearly teaches 'the spirit returns to God who gave it" Eccl 12:7 at death.

Jesus said "into thy hands I commit My spirit" Luke 23:46

So while Luke 16 does not say anything like that.. and it is a parable.. we do have outright statements on that point in both Eccl 12 and in Luke 23.

Agreed. first death in this life...and Rev 20 speaks of the 2nd death that happens after the millennium - it takes place during the 2nd resurrection - which is the resurrection of the wicked since the saints were raised at the first resurrection.

True - but paying attention to Bible details is not prittle or prattle - it is how we got the Protestant Reformation.

All true. And with a bit of looking we find that all of it can be supported from the Bible.

    =====================

As for Luke 16 - the parable -- Christ said this about it.

    Luke 16:31
" ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”

That was the "lesson" the "moral" of the parable according to Christ.

It is the one thing that people avoid when referencing Luke 16 - because they are usually far more interested in stressing out the parable details than actually look at the lesson being taught. That is a "clue" that something is wrong with their use of that parable.

Parables require spiritual discernment to understand. LIke Jesus told Nicodemus: "You must be born again to enter the Kingdom". Nicodemus was a master of religion--he had no clue. See John 3:1-13, the whole chapter says it all.

Spiritual discernment is provided to all true believers through The Spirit, The Holy guiding through the Holy Writ. He is not the author of all the religious confusion found in the wonderful world of Christendom.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Does God have the power to raise up Samual and pronounce final judgement upon Saul? Not the witch, God Himself!

God is the God of the living, so Abraham was still alive at time of Christ, alive to God, correct?

R.C. Sproul would not have taught that this was a parable.

Show your source for this claim.

Another scripture that is no parable: Jesus to the thief on the cross, "Today you will be with me in paradise." Lk 23:43.

Amazing: a condemned, untaught, unbaptized criminal got to heaven the same day he died.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Because then you would believe that prayers to the dead - such as praying to Abraham - is not right?
Because then you would believe that Abraham is not really sovereign of all saints in heaven??
Because then you would believe that Abraham does not determine who among the saints may be resurrected?

Okay, let's make sure we're on topic here: God has many personal ways He communicates with us. This is because we all get the chance to have a personal relationship with God because of what Jesus did on the cross. Which is the whole point of the gospel - for more, watch this:

    How big is your bible?
you just ripped out the entire book of ACTS and threw it away.
i would guess you have a very small bible, if you throw ACTS away so easily, id say there is other scriptures you got rid of as well.......just saying
