    Good evening once again -

Today, we read the grandaddy of all the Old Testament Sunday School stories: David and Goliath. This is such a familiar tale that I don't see much need for commentary. If there was anything new to pick up, the reader certainly spotted it without my help. It's such a good, clean plot of good vs. evil.
In chapter 18 we read of how Saul becomes increasingly jealous of David. However, every attempt to thwart David turns to his advantage. I do find verse 10 interesting as it reflects 16:14. "An evil spirit from the Lord." This may be one for the theology forum...

In 2Corinthians Paul "lightens up" quite a bit and praises the church at Corinth for the wise way in which they handled his previous letter. They accepted his rebuke and repented of their errant ways. Paul makes no secret that he is quite proud of their behavior.

I'll refrain from commenting on Mark because this always seems to get Helen to post in here. [IMG]

    May God bless you

Mark 12:1-12 Provides salvation history in a nutshell, God, the OT leaders ie priests/kings, the prophets, Isreal, Jesus and the Gentiles are all symbolized in this parable. Also see Isaiah 5

" 45 David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands."

These verses always give me goosepimples when I read them - wonderful words.
