The use of the term "invisible" in scripture, is not inferring that God cannot be seen, but is not presently seen at the moment. We can see this application below.

1 Timothy 1: 16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. 17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

We know that men have seen Jesus Christ in the flesh and after His ascension, He is not presently seen, but He will return as the Bridegroom to be seen at the pre great trib rapture to gather the abiding bride and He will return as the King of kings after the end of the great tribulation to be seen on earth for the millennium reign.

    So when you read this:

Colossians 1:15Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

To have an image of the invisible God means the invisible God not presently seen, has an image also.

    And when you read this;

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Jesus was answering the woman at the well her question about where to worship God at; in the mountains as her people did or in Jerusalem. The answer "God is a Spirit" is meaning that God is omnipresence; not that He has no image, so that believers can worship The Father anywhere by coming only to the Son in worship.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The Father has an image too, because the request for man to be created, was asked to be created in "Our" image and so when The Father agreed, as the One God, man was created in "His image".

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

The Son has seen the Father even though mankind has not seen the Father yet.

John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

One day, we will see the Father face to face in asking Him directly in Heaven that we will not need Jesus Christ to ask the Father for us anymore.

John 16:25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. 26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: 27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. 28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

May God cause the increase in the knowledge of Him to know that invisible only means presently not seen in how it is used in scripture.

The Father's manifestation in visible form is the incarnate and pre-incarnate Christ. It is illogical to think that the image if God in man includes mans body. The form and shape of a man is designed to fit the physical world we live in. God is not a man.

If we say God has an eternal body form like a man we end up asking silly questions like "does God have sexual organs, and what does he do with them?"

The idea that God has such a physical form negates his eternality. An eternal, uncreated God cannot be made up of parts, for there would be evidence of design there, but God has no designer. God is a Spirit. The bodily manifestation is Jesus Christ, who is also God, but took on the bodily form in a moment in time.

And yet in the image of God, man was created.

Seeing how our future celestial state where there is no marrying nor given in marriage in Heaven, where we will be like the angels that never die, and live in a mansion prepared for us in the city of God, it stands for one of the reason for why Jesus had to come incarnated to live among us as a the "created man".

1 Corinthians 15:35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? 36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: 37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: 38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. 40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

    1 Corinthians 7:29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Luke 20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: 35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

So the terrestrial state is the one that is created to produce seed for a bloodline, but the celestial is not for that purpose.

So we can be created in the image of God and since we were created to multiply, that does not mean God had to have them too. Certainly Jesus did have them when He became incarnated, but He did not use that for that purpose of multiplying His seed when His seed were multiplying by those coming to and believing in Him to be saved.

It is true we were created in God's image. But what does that mean? It doesnt mean identical because we are not gods and don't have God's attributes. The answer is that God is a spirit, and we also are a spirit. The spirit is the real us. We have a body but God does not.

Another aspect of God that could demonstrate the image of God in man is that we have an intellect capable of reasoning and abstract thought. The image of God in man compared to the lack of this image in a baboon is not that our arms are shorter and that we stand more upright or our nose is not as flat, these are superficial. The difference is that the monkey doesn't have a soul capable of spiritual understanding.

Again, if God has a form, that is a characteristic of design and means God would have to have been himself designed.

Maybe you should see this thread that shares scripture that Jesus was/is the God that men had seen in the Old Testament before His incarnation.

Jesus Was/Is the God Men Had Seen Before His Incarnation

In Genesis 18, Abraham did give Him food to eat and milk to drink.

Genesis 18:1And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; 2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, 3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: 4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: 5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said. 6 And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. 7 And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. 8 And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.

There is a Marriage Supper in Heaven where, God be willing, we shall eat and drink with Him there at the pre great trib rapture.

Luke 22:17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: 18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

Luke 13:28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. 29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.

Luke 14:15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. 16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: 17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. 18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.....24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

If in doubt, He did eat after His resurrection.

John 21:12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise. 14 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.

He had not drunk any wine after His resurrection because He is abstaining from it until we are at the Marriage Supper in Heaven. So that is something to discern with Him at that throne of grace as well.

I accept all of that and agree that these visible appearances of God in the OT are Jesus Christ.

Correct, as far as no human eyes has seen the Father, even though before His incarnation, Jesus has seen the Father as testified.

However, you are incorrect if you think all saved believers will be raptured. Jesus's warnings were not vain since they were given to believers to be ready or else. There is no loss of salvation but a loss of that firstfruit of the resurrection; that celestial inheritance, but though left behind, they will be resurrected after the great tribulation to serve the King of kings from various places all over the world in representing Him and the city of God in raising up the coming generations in His kingdom on earth.

Do bother to read the scripture I am posting to you, brother. Otherwise, I am suspecting we are not having a discussion at all.

In Luke 12:40-49 Peter did ask the Lord if He was speaking to them, the disciples or unto all.

Luke 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not. 41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all? 42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? 43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. 45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; 46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. 49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

He was speaking to believers since the reward for heeding His warnings would be done by a believer; hence though that would be His disciples.

Proof is that how they were cut off as Jesus warned about those not abiding in His words would be cut off ( John 15:6 )

John 15:1I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

You have to be of the vine before one can be cut off from the vine.

Yet as a result of being cut off in having their portion with unbelievers in Luke 12:46, Jesus goes on to the other punishment for not being ready as He still calls them servants as they will receive stripes per the measure of knowledge for not being ready.

So... being a castaway and receiving stripes, there is not going to be some okey dokey picnic for unrepentant believers.

And you are still avoiding the warnings from Jesus for why you should be ready.

Are you living in sin? Does a habitual sin has dominion over your life is why you want to believe the way you do or what? Just asking.

If you want to understand where I am coming from.. read 1 Corinthians 5th chapter at the link below.

Bible Gateway passage: 1 Corinthians 5 - King James Version

So what the church fail to do by excommunicating an unrepentant believer, so will God do at the pre great trib rapture event.

    And there is this:

Hebrews 12:1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. 4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. 5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

Unrepentant believers and former believers that gets left behind are being punished to be partakers of His holiness.

So that is the cost for not running that race by faith in Jesus Christ in helping us to lay aside every weight & sin.

Just as Jesus is our faithful Creator keeping the souls of His saints left behind that will suffer the coming fire on the earth and the following great tribulation as a result. That is why the call to depart from iniquity is given to saved believers and even former but yet still saved believer so they can look to Him for help to discern as well as to depart from iniquity so they can be received by Him as a vessel unto honor in His House to attend the marriage Supper of the Lamb in Heaven.

No, they do not cease just as the prodigal son gave up his first inheritance for wild living, and although he can never get it back .. he is still son. But he will wished that he had looked to Jesus Christ in trusting Him as his Good Shepherd in helping him to lay aside every weight & sin in running that race for the high prized of our calling to be received as a vessel unto honor in His House to attend the Marriage Supper held in His honor and to His glory.

Those who do not run that race.... even though they are saved.... will find that they were ignoring their relationship with God thru the Lord Jesus Christ, and it should not be a wonder why He would say.. I never knew you, depart from me ye workers of iniquity.

I did not say they lose eternal life; I said those left behind as castaways lose their first inheritance. Those left behind are still present with Christ for He still abides in them even though He has denied them attendance to the Marriage Supper for being unrepentant workers of iniquity. They will be received later on as vessels unto dishonor in His House because they are saved.

So there is more than a consequence of losing the rewards of crowns when failing to run that race by faith in Him as our Good Shepherd in looking to Him for help in laying aside every weight & sin in running that race; one can become a castaway.
