Good evening -

In Judges tonight we meet the anti-judge, Abimelech, Gideon's son. Abimelech set himself up as an authority figure after the death of Gideon and made himself a ruler through murder and deceipt. Notice his fable about the olive tree, the fig tree and the vine. The thornbush, which bears no fruit IS Abimelech. The story ends with a woman using a common household object to kill a ruthless man, reflecting the story of Deborah when Jael killed Sisera with a tentpeg (4:21).

In 1Corinthians, Paul is addressing the subject af male and female conduct concerning worship. Some believe this is relevant to modern times since Paul refers to creation, thereby making it a mandate right down to the head covering rule (v. 8-10). Others interpret it to be relative to modern times as it sets forth principles concerning husbands and wives and living Godly lives. Still others feel that this passage is speaking of proper conduct for the city of Corinth at the time of Paul's writings. I'll just let you decide.
