The prayer of faith heals................

 

paul seemed to have lost his gift to heal, see Timothy, and author of Hebrews stated that the signs and wonders confirmed Jesus was Lord Messiah, buty seemed to have waned now!

 

The Object of the faith actually heals!

 

Pentecostal Holiness- While my old pastor was alive, and to describe the guy...
1. Very disciplined guy - Up at 6AM every morning
2. Rejoiced in what he called being a Pentecostal Holiness country preacher
3. Revivals - At least one every two months - All with unique and good evangelists
4. Would let the Holy Spirit have his way in service
5. Take time to pray for the sick at church and in the hospitals. Carried a bottle of anointing oil with him
6. Was a friendly guy and would come visit you
7. Loved God, had a genuine goodness, and very Christlike.
8. A great, loving, and supportive family man as well




The old generation of Pentecostal/Methodist Virginians would work the farms as well as other jobs. They did not have the time of day to get bored with their salvation and kept up a joy and an interest in their everyday life.

Pictured below is farmer I would work for in the hay field... Dallas would shout at work, shout in the hay field, and shout in church. He would also speak in tongues and run the aisles. He and his wife would operate a dairy farm and he would also work at the local ammunition plant. A very large soul his shouting would ring through the building. In the altar services he would kneel behind me in prayer and tears would roll off his cheek and onto my shoulders. A wonderfully large soul. Along with Dallas there were many others like him who would let the praises roll during church service. During the altar service old Evans Linkous used to weep like a baby. And if he were to look back to catch the amazed look in my eye he would weep, "The Holy Ghost! The Holy Ghost!" And point to all the souls being blessed around the altar. After I experienced these things for myself the people would make a fuss, or in the words of the Apostle Paul, glorify God in me. One day, after a beautiful autumnal week of beautiful Virginia fall and revival I lay on my bed with open door, listening to the Katydids sing their praises to God, reading Run Baby Run, with fireflies lighting up the mountain as they would fly, and heard the Spirit ask... "Put the book down" and then continue, "Where is all that hatred, strife, and bad feeling?" In which examining my eternal man there was nothing there but sheer beauty. I thought to myself... “Oh my! I got exactly what those folks got!”



I am afraid the spirit of the church died away in Dallas’s generation.

 

Before I took interest in Pentecostal Holiness I was GARBC Baptist. Our old pastor used to take we young people on youth retreats and I would feel the Holy Spirit there also and would go up to the altar for prayer. Very much the Christian atmosphere and I would think the young people there looked like angels.

I also attended a Free Will Baptist church while going to college. One evening we had a footwashing / communion service. Having never been to one my flesh fought me all the way to church that night. During the service there was such tears and shouting, wow! They would pray over you as they washed the feet and it was really a dramatic sight. It is really done decent and there is such a clean spiritual sensation afterwards as I cannot describe.

I have had run in with the Holy Spirit GARBC Baptist, Free Will Baptist, Pentecostal Holiness, and cherish all my memories there. I can not recommend any certain denomination these days without knowing the pastor and quality of congregation.

 

Were you ever into Word of faith, positive confession etc?

 

I would recommend everyone cut their teeth on Word of Faith doctrine... But there is a time to move on once the Faith is in place.

 

Word of faith doctrines, as taught by like of Hagen and Copeland is outright heresy!

 

I do not promote either one.... However....

And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. - Numbers 13:32-33

And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt? - Numbers 14:1-3

Had the children of Israel cut their teeth on the Word of Faith it would have gone better with them.

 

faith yes, but not that as held by the WoF!

 

So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. - Hebrews 3:19

Again, what the bible tells us about what faith is is not what WoF teach, as they hold to it being akin to the Force of Star Wars, and how we can force even God to obey us if enoug

 

1. Yes, God still heals
2. According to 2nd century christians the ability to heal indiscriminately died out w the Apostles.

Remember, even Paul could not heal himself of his eye disease

 

Show me someone dead that the truly raise
Show me someone w a withered hand or jacked up leg and I will believe that they are healed

Most of their miracles are unable to be substantiated like headaches, backaches supposed cancers etc

 

There is an unbelief and hardness that is so thick that God can’t get a blessing in there edgewise.

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. - Mark 9:23
Charity beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. - 1 Corinthians 13:7

All things are possible to those who believe, if this happened only in the first century that would make God out as a respect of persons.

 

The gift of healing was given to the Apostles to show that they were continuing the Message of the Kingdom. Otherwise everyone would have been proclaiming a message and mostly a bad message. The power of the Apostles demonstrated that their power came from God and that their message should be believed

 

Nor Timothy of his stomach issues!

 

No, rather that God did those signs and wonders for a season, for a definite purpose and reason, and not required now!
