    Good evening -

    In 1Samuel tonight we once again saw David spare Saul's life when he had an opportunity to kill the man bent on killing him. Again David refers to the fact that Saul is God's anointed and for this reason it is God who must remove him from office.
    Chapter 28 contains a very interesting account of Saul conferring with a medium to speak to Samuel. This woman is somehow afforded power to actually call up Samuel's spirit so that he could communicate with Saul. According to my text notes there are a few possible explanations for this occurence but the one that rings the truest with me is that God allowed Samuel's spirit to be contacted by the woman. Still, this is a very interesting part of our story.

    Our reading in Mark takes us to the passage where Christ is talking about the end times. When reading these passages I would like to remind the readers that Christ also says in verse 32, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in Heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Christians, be EVER ready. The end will come, we just need to always be ready for it.

    Our reading in 2Corinthians tonight gives us a wealth of autobiographical text about Paul. This passage also tells us how Acts is a seletive accounting of Paul's missions and leaves us hanging in the end. Paul certainly had an exciting venture in this life.

    May God bless you

    - Clint

    Like Psalm 105, Psalm 106 recounts the history of Israel and its apostasy despite God's mercies and warnings. At the end of the reading this evening, Moses is presented as a type of Christ, saving the people.

    We also see some of the tapering off of the disasters which had inundated the earth since the Flood of Noah. Although things had settled down pretty much, we still see that the earth "opened up and swallowed Dathan;
    it buried the company of Abiram.
    Fire blazed among their followers;
    a flame consumed the wicked."

    And I would like to second Clint's call for us all to be ready at any time. Our bridegroom will come for us 'in the night' and 'like a thief.' He is preparing a place for us now, as He promised. We should be looking up in high anticipation and walking on earth in loving obedience to His Holy Spirit.
