[[[[Left speechless]]] [[[shock!!!!]]] Nearly had an apoplectic moment over this one. Talk about "wrest[ing]" scripture:

Mat 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

The verse does not say anything about an immortal soul/spirit. It speaks of the "everlasting punishment", not 'everlasting punishing', nor 'everlasting torture', of the impentient. It is the "punishment" (not the person) that is "everlasting". Try reading more prayerfully and slowly. The wages (the payment or punishment) for sin is death (second death), from which there is no return, nor resurrection, nor life. It is oblivion in the time to come for them. A cessation to exist.

Rom_6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Eze_18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

Eze_18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

Joh_3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Psa_7:9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.

Eze_28:19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

    etc.
The punishment therefore is a death (2nd) which is everlasting.

[[[FACE-PALM with so much enthusiasm it left a mark]]] Talk about "wrest[ing]" scripture.

We have already considered Ecclesiastes 12:7, in the light of Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10.

The False Doctrine of the Immortality of the Soul..

Ecclesiastes 12:7 does not say anything about an immortal/soul/spirit. It speaks of God's spirit (breath of life) that returns to Him. We, which are of the dust, return to dust.

Scripture says, that when a being or person dies:

Ecclesiastes 12:6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

This verse makes no distinction between the righteous and the wicked. Therefore:

Question - Where do the wicked go when they immediately die according to your theology, where the beasts? Do they enter Heaven, where God is, which you must believe according to Ecclesiastes 12:7? Do you know that is how the spiritualist reads it?

    Notice please:

Genesis 2:7 LKB - And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

    Genesis 2:7 HOT Translit. - 2:7 waYiytzer y'hwäh élohiym et-häädäm äfär min-häádämäh waYiPach B'aPäyw nish'mat chaYiym way'hiy häädäm l'nefesh chaYäh

Genesis 2:7 HOT -

Genesis 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

    Genesis 2:19 HOT Translit. - waYitzer y'hwäh élohiym min-häádämäh Käl-chaYat haSädeh w'ët Käl-ôf haSHämayim waYävë el-häädäm lir'ôt mah-Yiq'rä-lô w'khol ásher yiq'rä-lô häädäm nefesh chaYäh hû sh'mô

    Genesis 2:19 HOT -

The bible makes no distinction between the 'nefesh chayah' of man (good or evil) or beast in the matter of receiving or giving up the breath (spirit) of life from God:

    Man:

Job 33:4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

    Beast:

Genesis 6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.

Genesis 7:15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.

Genesis 7:22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.

Revelation 16:3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.

    Notice:

Ecclesiastes 3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

Ecclesiastes 3:20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
Notice, we, the "dust" (formed, ordered), once the breath of life of God, being His breath, His life (which we borrow), is taken back, return to "dust" (unformed).

The "spirit" in that passage is God's life giving breath (active agency), by which the "dust" (formed, ordered) was made to live and breath, thus becoming a whole unit, a living soul/creature/being.

Mankind is made of the "dust" (formed, ordered):

Genesis 2:7 KJB - And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 3:19 KJB - In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

See, we return to the ground, dust. We stay that way, until a resurrection.

Psalms 104:29 KJB - Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.

This is just as Ecclesiastes 12:7 KJB says. Notice the word "return", and the two locations of which the two things (1. dust & 2. breath/spirit) return to. We, the "dust" (formed, ordered), return to the ground from which we were made from, and the breath of life of God, His spirit, which He lent unto us, goes back to Him, its Originator.

Take notice, that all such "spirit", whether lent (gave, the Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord) to the "dust" of mankind (good or evil, saved or lost) or lent to the beasts, returns to God in Heaven, as the passage makes no distinction of the "spirit" lent (gave) to any of them. It is the active principle that makes alive, that which had not been alive.

There are many passages which reveal this over and over again:

    Job 27:3, 34:14; Genesis 6:17, 7:15; Job 9:18, 12:10, 17:1, 19:17; Psalms 104:29, 146:4; Ecclesiastes 3:19, 8:8; Lamentations 4:20; Ezekiel 37:5-6, 8-10; Habakkuk 2:18.

Idols (formed clay, earth, stone, wood, etc) have no such breath of life of God, ie, no such spirit from Him, thus are not alive:

    Psalms 135:17; Jeremiah 10:14, 51:17, etc.

    What in the ...???

You think that those verses teach immortal soul/spirit theology?

They teach sleep in death and a resurrection to life:

1Co 15:12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
1Co 15:13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
1Co 15:14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
1Co 15:15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
1Co 15:16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
1Co 15:17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
1Co 15:18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
1Co 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

That "Answer" even quoted this twice!

The resurrection doctrine is the anti-thesis to the immortal soul/spirit doctrine. The two doctrines are incongruent, and contradictory to one another.

    Talk about "wrest[ing]" scripture!

This was the absolute worst of the atrocities of "wrest[ing]" the scriptures in that "Answer" I have witnessed. You think that these verses teach immortal soul/spirit theology? Did you even read the passage in context?

    Psa 49:6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
Psa 49:7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
Psa 49:8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
Psa 49:9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.

Psa 49:10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
Psa 49:11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
Psa 49:12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.

The passage is directly speaking of the sinners who boast themselves in their ill-gotten gains, that think that they can purchase salvation by such trinkets as gold and silver, or through such, live forever. God says, by the Holy Ghost, through the sons of Korah (Psalms 49:1; of those who served at the tabernacle), that it is not so. Salvation cannot be purchased by such (vs 8), as it could only be 'purchased' by the blood of the Son of God, and that, a gift unto us. The sinners think ("inward[ly]", that is in their hearts/minds) that they are going to live forever, in their sinful ways. God says, that they shall all "perish" and "abideth not".

What asininity is to so take that passage and make it say the complete opposite of what it does plainly say.

Whomever wrote that answer, knoweth not the scriptures. They, whomsoever they be, owe God an apology for doing that to God's word, and speaking on a subject they do not understand, and wresting God's word in such a fashion as to make it say the complete opposite of what it does say. They ought to have kept silence, and then be thought wise at least by some, but having opened wide their mouth (as an open sepulchre), all doubt as to their incompetence in the handling God's word, is known unto all.

We have to let scripture explain itself.
The answer lies in John 20:17:

John 20:17 King James Version (KJV)
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

We see here where Christ says to Mary Magdalene, and this is three days after His crucifixion, “I am not yet ascended to my Father.” So Christ hadn’t returned to heaven the day of His crucifixion.

The system of punctuation we are used to in the English language—which includes quotation marks, commas, semicolons, etc.—was not used in the Greek language that the Gospel of Luke was written in. As a result, English translators of the Bible had to place punctuation into the Bible based on the context of the translation. While they have generally done an accurate job with this, their lack of understanding of the timing of the resurrections and their belief in nonbiblical doctrines such as the immortality of the soul led them to incorrectly punctuate. Much as their presumptions led them to replace the Pasch or Passover with "Easter" which is a festival of pagan origin..

Acts 12:4 King James Version (KJV)
And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

    Acts 12:4 Wycliffe Bible (WYC)
4 And when he had caught Peter, he sent him into prison; and betook him to four quaternions of knights, to keep him, and would after pask bring him forth to the people [willing after pask to bring him forth to the people].

Acts 12:4 1599 Geneva Bible (GNV)
4 And when he had caught him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to be kept, intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people.

Acts 12:4 Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
4 whom also having seized, he did put in prison, having delivered [him] to four quaternions of soldiers to guard him, intending after the passover to bring him forth to the people.

That theology you just stated is occultism. It is OOB, astral travel, etc. It is not true. Jesus died, and "remain[ed] in the tomb" and "lay" there until His Father called Him out.

Job_21:32 Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.

Mat_28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

You have a misunderstanding of the word "soul" and "hell" as the Bible defines them (Psalms 16:10; Acts 2:27).

Look at how the Bible even uses the English word "soul":

The Bible speaks of soul as in the totality of the dust + breath in either man or animal:

And levy a tribute unto the LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, [both] of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the sheep: Numbers 31:28

    Numbers 31:28 HOT Translit. - wahárëmotä mekheš layhwäh mëët an'shëy haMil'chämäh haYotz'iym laTZävä echäd nefesh mëchámësh haMëôt min-häädäm ûmin-haBäqär ûmin-hachámoriym ûmin-haTZon

    Numbers 31:28 HOT -

Numbers 31:28 so-called LXX - καὶ ἀφελεῖτε τέλος κυρίῳ παρὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων τῶν πολεμιστῶν τῶν ἐκπεπορευμένων εἰς τὴν παράταξιν μίαν ψυχὴν ἀπὸ πεντακοσίων ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν κτηνῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν βοῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν προβάτων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν αἰγῶν· (<--- the so-called LXX adds 'goats' with sheep)

Cows [beeves, bovine], asses and sheep also are "souls".

Is this an isolated case, or is this noted through all of scripture? It is throughout scripture:

    Acts 17:25 KJB -Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

Job 12:10 KJB - In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

    Job 12:10 HOT Translit. - ásher B'yädô nefesh Käl-chäy w'rûªch Käl-B'sar-iysh

    Job 12:10 HOT - אשׁר בידו נפשׁ כל־חי ורוח כל־בשׂר־אישׁ׃

    Job 12:10 so-called LXX - εἰ μὴ ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ ψυχὴ πάντων τῶν ζώντων καὶ πνεῦμα παντὸς ἀνθρώπου;
Leviticus 22:11 KJB - But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat.

    Leviticus 22:11 HOT Translit. - w'khohën Kiy-yiq'neh nefesh qin'yan Kaš'Pô hû yokhal Bô wiyliyd Bëytô hëm yokh'lû v'lach'mô

Leviticus 22:11 HOT -

See Joshua 10, in every instance where it is written that Joshua destroyed "all the souls that were therein" (all "souls"; HOT Translit. "nefesh" and HOT "נפשׁ"- referring to men and animals/beasts):

"...he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein..." Joshua 10:28

"...he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it..." Joshua 10:30

"...and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein..." Joshua 10:32

"...smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day..." Joshua 10:35

"... smote it ... and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein." Joshua 10:37

"And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining..." Joshua 10:39

"... he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD God of Israel commanded." Joshua 10:40

"... just as Joshua did to Jericho, so he did to those cities, "And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword." Joshua 6:21

"... just as Joshua did to Haxor, so he did to those cities, "And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire." Joshua 11:11
