The Behemoth was a hippo (in Hebrew, behmowth means "water ox", which is what they called the hippo). This was covered in a thread a while back.

The Leviathan was a crocodile (in Hebrew, the croc was called livyathan, which the KJV and others translate as "leviathan")

Both hippos and crocodiles were common animals in the region of the time.
    </font>[/QUOTE]John,

Behemoth was not a hippo, because he has a tail like a cedar. Leviathan was not a crocodile, because he raises himself up. I could say a lot more about these two creatures, but this is not the place for it. If you want to discuss dinosaurs, we can do it in another thread.

This thread is about doctrines relating to the C/E controversy. I came here because I wanted to talk about sin and death. Have you noticed how quickly it has gone of course, as soon as I suggested that all of nature is subject to decay and death as a result of Adam's sin? Why are people reluctant to face up to this issue? Will some of the evolutionist Christians please tell me, what it the cause of death, and if it's something other than sin, how do we deal with it?

I have re-posted my original contribution to this thread, in a new thread called "Real Gospel or Pseudo-Gospel?", under "Baptist Theology & Bible Study".

Read that verse in context. "Tail" is a euphemism.

Crocs do raise up, and can gallop, with legs under their body. They can move remarkably fast, when motivated to do so. And that is frightening.

EF I think you need to examine more deeply what is meant by tail. Hint:Think male virility.
