That's precisely why I could not vote for Trump. I cannot betray what I know to be true and right just to fit in.

    No worries.
    They are dead.

2 Samuel 12:23 But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.

"Anything that comes before faithfulness to God is idolatry." Does this include support of a politician(s) that believe & practice virtually everything the Word condemns?? Doesn't seem this is very "faithful to God"!

Allow me to rephrase the above underlined: And if you don't know the difference between the Gospel of Jesus and leftists/progressives/dems beliefs & practices, then you are the one in big trouble.

"--including Bernie Sanders, who believed in the rule of law." Seems to be quite a stretch to say an avowed socialist is a "believer in the law"!

Any creditability you MAY have had, has now evaporated; or more accurately you blew it, with the above highlighted statements!!

I had a Christian friend who said social justice was more important than abortion, that the church has to move on.
Someday I am sure his mind will be changed!

Christians have no business getting involved with this hateful, racist, ungodly, secular "social justice" garbage. Its not anything like any kind of justice God has spoken of. At all.

Social justice is not the gospel of Christ, even though my friend claimed it was.

The gospel is to believe in Jesus Christ to be saved from the evil age in which we live, to have eternal life with Christ and repent of your sinful ways and doings, not to love this world. If you love this world, the love of God is not in you.
The gospel is the resurrection of Christ and how we overcome the world by our faith in Him, and the gospel is according to the scriptures, not our own thoughts of what it should be. The gospel is our salvation, as verse 1 states.

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16

And behold, a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.” But wanting to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

Jesus replied and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he encountered robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead. And by coincidence a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan who was on a journey came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return, I will repay you.’ Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?” And he said, “The one who showed compassion to him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.
    - Luke 10:25-37

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may prove yourselves to be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Even the tax collectors, do they not do the same? And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what more are you doing than others? Even the Gentiles, do they not do the same? Therefore you shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. - Matthew 5:45-48
When a disciple of Jesus loves their neighbor, they will naturally seek justice for them. Loving the people of the world is a very different thing than loving the corruption of the world.

You said it. This “Critical Social Justice” garbage cloaks itself in “virtuous” rhetoric, but was spawned by the one who masquerades as an angel of light.

    Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
    Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
And clever in their own sight!
Who declare the wicked innocent for a bribe,
And take away the rights of the ones who are in the right!

Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes stubble,
And dry grass collapses in the flame,
    So their root will become like rot, and their blossom blow away like dust;
For they have rejected the Law of the Lord of armies,
And discarded the word of the Holy One of Israel.

    - Isaiah 5:20-21, 23-24

Treating your fellow humans with compassion is part of the gospel.

Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:6

    Naked, and ye clothed me:
I was sick and ye visited me:
I was in prison and ye came unto me.
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying,
Lord, when saw we thee an hungred,
    and fed thee?
or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
When saw we thee a stranger,
    and took thee in?
    or naked, and clothed thee?
Or when saw we thee sick,
or in prison, and came unto thee?
And the King shall answer and say unto them,
    Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto me.
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand,
    Depart from me, ye cursed,
    into everlasting fire,
prepared for the devil and his angels:
    For I was an hungred,
and ye gave me no meat:
    I was thirsty,
and ye gave me no drink:
    I was a stranger,
and ye took me not in:
naked, and ye clothed me not:
    sick, and in prison,
    and ye visited me not.
Then shall they also answer him, saying,
Lord, when saw we thee an hungred,
or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison,
and did not minister unto thee?
Then he shall answer them saying,
    Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye did it not to on of the least of these,
ye did it not unto me.
    Matthew 25:37-45
