They do this legalistically, i.e. "acting like Paul". It's part of works salvation. Born again people, Paul and others, do this by nature of the new birth.

They did not hold to it as expressed by Dr MacArthur, but His views very similar to some of the Puritans!

Actually, "easy believism" is impossible for sinners, but possible for Yahweh to save us!

Think Calvin and Luther would both not like us to focus upon our good works and behavior as the source of our assurance, as some into Lordship seem to fall into that trap of taking eyes off what Jesus did already to secure our salvation!

This is from the 1689 London Baptist Confession, which was adapted from the Westminster Confession:

This seems to be teaching a middle position between hyper-grace and Lordship salvation.

In my view one of the problems with reformed theology is it's difficulty maintaining salvation by grace alone through faith alone apart from any works.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

    Right here!!!

    What's the difficulty?
Scripture clearly teaches salvation by grace alone, through faith alone apart from human works. There is nothing to maintain. You simply have scripture that is clear on the matter.
If you struggle with this it is because you won't accept what the Bible clearly teaches.

I'm curious, do you ever get tired of making subtle insults?

They were attempting to make God solely responsible for our salvation, but that we once saved are also accountable and to some degree involved in the maturation process!

Think that we holding to Reformed salvation would tend to see good works as part of the sanctification process, not salvation proper!

He might be referring to the part of how we see good works important in showing really are saved!
