    Mark 6:4
    NIV : Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home."
    CEB : Jesus said to them, "Prophets are honored everywhere except in their own hometowns, among their relatives, and in their own households."

    Ezekiel 36:10
    NIV : and I will cause many people to live on you --yes, all of Israel. The towns will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt.
    NLT : I will greatly increase the population of Israel, and the ruined cities will be rebuilt and filled with people.

    John 13:16
    NIV : Very truly...
    CEB : I assure you...

    Hebrews 6:11
    NIV : ...so that what you hope for may be fully realized
    CEB : ...in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true

    Psalm 10:2
    NIV : In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.
    NET : The wicked arrogantly chase the oppressed; the oppressed are trapped by the schemes the wicked have dreamed up.

    Isaiah 28:24
    NIV : When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually? Does he keep on breaking up and working the soil?
    NLT : Does a farmer always plow and never sow? Is he forever cultivating the soil and never planting?

    Matthew 27:1
    NIV : Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed.
    NLT : Very early in the morning the leading priests and the elders of the people met again to lay plans for putting Jesus to death.

    Romans 14:22
    NIV : So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.
    Mounce : The faith that you have, keep as your own conviction before God.

    Job 7:10
    NIV : He will never come to his house again; his place will know him no more.
    CSB : He will never return to his house; his hometown will no longer remember him.

    1 Corinthians 14:4
    NIV : Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church.
    NLT : A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.

    Ephesians 4:15
    NIV : Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
    NLT : Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.

    So, I have comments about each pair of the above items that I will reserve until later. Feel free to make your remarks.

    YLT And Jesus said to them -- `A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his kindred, and in his own house;`

    Synonymous with Acts of the Apostles 15:14-17 and Romans 9:25-27.

    YLT verily, verily, I say to you.....

    ???
    ASV And we desire that each one of you may show the same diligence unto the fulness of hope even to the end:
    YLT and we desire each one of you the same diligence to shew, unto the full assurance of the hope unto the end,

    ASV In the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued; Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived.

    ASV Doth he that ploweth to sow plow continually? doth he continually open and harrow his ground?

    YLT And morning having come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus, so as to put him to death;

    ASV The faith which thou hast, have thou to thyself before God

    ASV He shall return no more to his house, Neither shall his place know him any more.

    ASV He that speaketh in a tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

    ASV but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, even Christ;
    YLT and, being true in love, we may increase to Him in all things, who is the head -- the Christ;

    Regarding Mark 6:4 : "Not without honor" is a bit confusing and uses old-fashioned wording. So that's why I prefer the CEB wording.
    Regarding Ez. 36:10, "I will cause many people to live on you" sounds strange. "I will greatly increase the population of Israel" is much clearer.
    John 13:16, who talks like that? "I assure you conveys the same thing in the way we naturally speak.
    Hebrews 6:11. The NIV rendering is off. "What you hope for may be fully realized." I prefer the plain CEB wording.
    Psalm 10:2 The NET rendering is my preference.

    Is. 28:24. The NLT here sounds better.
    Matthew 27:1. It wasn't about 'how' to have Jesus executed as the NIV has it. That makes it seem as if the manner of his particular style of death was being discussed. Rather it was about their plans for putting him to death. The 'plot' as the NET has it.
    Ro. 14:22. I appreciate Mounce's take on this whole verse.
    Job 7:10. The CSB has a modern language feel to it. "Will know him no more" sounds rather antiquated.
    1 Cor. 14:4. I have to agree with MM about the awkwardness of the NIV sometimes. 'Anyone' doesn't comport with 'themselves.'
    Eph. 4:15. I know the NLT adds "the Church" at the end of the verse to make it clear. But earlier in the verse the NLT uses nine words to say what it took the NIV to say in thirteen. And the former put it in more natural language.

    Kyredneck, the ASV and YLT are even more extreme illustrations of translations that are not suitable for Bible readers of today --not just in America, but around the world. Besides, the YLT can't really be considered a translation as such.
