Smiley Xtra is a new extension. It adds a smiley button to the right of the search box. When you click it, it opens a side bar that has hundreds of smileys divided into catagories.

Dunno about you, but I've been after a program that can do this for ages

 

I use a neat program called PrintFolders. PrintFolders allows me to print a text file of any of my folders. Great for insurance purposes.

Say, for instance I print file of my 800 songs, and a bitmap showing all my cd's. I then put these paper documents in my fireproof safe. If anything happens, I have proof of ownership of what I am claiming.

Also have file showing programs owned, installed, HD's, Sound Cards, Video Cards, etc.

I have to ammend my statement. With IE7 (soon to be released in BETA) addressing the issues I had with it, so I've reverted back to IE6 in anticipation of its release.

Extracting DVD Audio

I recorded video of a project of mum's at old Church a few weeks ago and put it on to DVD for her. Then deciding to make mp3s from the songs to send to friends really gave me some fun To save you a hour or thousand of searching and fiddling here is the free solution I surfed across.

Although the disc wasn't encrypted, DVD Decrypter seemed to be the best tool for extracting the audio to start with. It would demux the audio to one AC3 file on computer.

HeadAC3he converts the AC3 file to MP3.

Last but not least Mega MP3 Splitter does what it says Makes manageable size MP3s out of a 100something MB original


Oh, a couple of gig Athlon chip and a gig of RAM might come in handy too if going to play around with something like that....But that part isn't free

Mom's Calendar 3.5.5: This program provides a simple printable calendar that is great for keeping track of events. Print it out blank and fill it in later or add a few short notes before you print. You can also export your calendar to HTML.

They even have versions for the 5% people....

 

Someone recently posted on Audacity. It is a very powerful program. It can even transpose and has a all list of abilities. I would highly recommend it. You do have to separately download the MP3 encoder, but it is easy and only has to be done once.

Regarding pdf files. www.pdf995.com is very good. Its additonal and free programs give a lot of flexibility around security.

The link I gave in above post no longer works, however the program is still available HERE . The company that now owns it (Macrovision) think it's more a curse than a blessing and are getting it removed from all over the place. So if you think you'll ever need it getting it quick might be an idea...even if you don't think you'll need it download it and save on a floppy (setup program is only 878 kb) just in case
