I thought it was decided weeks ago that I am not a Calvinist.

I have. You need to do so yourself.

How long are you going to continue your tirade, @Silverhair? Just curious. As for me [IMG]

Ken we could go back and forth on this all day. You do not trust what the bible says in clear English but rather will trust what some man tells you that the bible says. I do find it funny that you say I do not understand the metaphor in Rom 3:9-18 but I understand that it is metaphor whereas you do not seem to have grasped that concept.

    Metaphor
a figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance, as in “A mighty fortress is our God.”

Do you not understand what "literally" means as well as not understanding the use of metaphors in the Bible?

Whats that old expression, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck odds on it's a duck. You can call yourself what ever you like but since you post like a calvinist I will conclude you are one.

You just do not seem to like it when someone does not agree with your view.

Go ahead and be self-deceived, @Silverhair.

You just do not seem to comprehend Biblical teaching when verses are given you to read.

I have no need to call myself by any term other than Christian, one of God's elect, given to Christ before the world began.

I study the bible in context, not by pulling verses out of context as seems to be your normal way of doing things.

You might be studying it, but clearly you are not comprehending it.

There you go misunderstanding the bible again. But you have a good day, I have better things to do than continue this back and forth.

No, just a confused one. You seem to be trusting in what other people to tell you the bible says rather than digging out the gold yourself. You have fallen for the false doctrine of man.

Calvinist preaching is some of the most demanding and rigorous you will find. Jonathan Edwards talks about the kingdom suffering violence as you press into it and that you must strive to enter in the strait gate and walk a narrow way. And he is very clear that YOU do this with all the powers of your will. Yet at the same time he was very clearly big on God's sovereignty and tended to believe in determinism. He believed in election and predestination from before time began. Philosophically he was closest to @KenH and yet he preached like it was all up to you. There is something we are missing here. Almost all the Puritans did the same thing.

Do you believe that a person can be saved by a false gospel? I do not.

God uses means. See Romans10:13-15. And it is God who makes one willing to call upon the name of the Lord and look to Him alone to have met all of the conditions necessary for him to be saved and to be the Lord his Righteousness.

Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power. - Psalms 110:3

This is just demonstrably false based upon many many posts you have provided. You are the master of ignoring context and continually prove it with your posts. Please stop with the untruths.

What seems to be missing is that they could not see the contradiction in what they were saying or writing. God is sovereign by not deterministic. The idea of God predetermining all things from before the foundation of the world is not supported by the bible.

Neither do I. But that is the difference between you and I. I say we are saved by the grace of God because of our faith in Christ Jesus. With the calvinist I am not sure what they believe as each one seems to have a different view of salvation.

Sliverhair just doesn't see how his assertion nullifies grace and makes it salvation by merited human faith.
Anyone who can read should, however, be able to see his error.
