Rev 22:5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
John 11:10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

Gen 1:4,5 And God seeth the light that it is (?Italic?) good, and God separateth between the light and the darkness, and God calleth to the light 'Day,' and to the darkness He hath called 'Night;' and there is an evening, and there is a morning -- day one.
Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

    Eph 6:12 YLT because we have not the wrestling with blood and flesh, but with the principalities, with the authorities, with the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, with the spiritual things of the evil in the heavenly places;

What was God going to do about, the darkness on the face of the deep of the earth, the darkness that took place after the creation of the heavens and the earth. The darkness which is the god of this age.

2 Cor 4:3 NKJV But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,
2 Cor 4:4-6 YLT in whom the god of this age did blind the minds of the unbelieving, that there doth not shine forth to them the enlightening of the good news of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God; for not ourselves do we preach, but Christ Jesus -- Lord, and ourselves your servants because of Jesus; because it is God who said, Out of darkness light is to shine, who did shine in our hearts, for the enlightening of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Let us create man in our image, Yet a little lower than the angels because of the death, of flesh and blood, with the soul of the flesh in the blood, take woman from the man, that the Son of God could come out of a virgin woman, sinless, die, be dead three days and three nights, quickened out of the dead to die no more, corruption no more to return to, thus destroying the devil and his works.

When will the darkness of this age, end? When will there be no night ?

1 Cor 15:56 YLT and the sting of the death, the sin, and the power of the sin the law; (and of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou dost not eat of it, for in the day of thine eating of it -- dying thou dost die.' Gen 2:17 YLT)

Has and Is everything taking place according to the Word of God, according to the Word made flesh, the first born out of the dead, appointed heir of all things?

'It has come to be taken for granted that Christianity is no longer a subject of enquiry, but that it is now at length discovered to be fictitious. And accordingly it is treated as if, in the present age, this were an agreed point among all persons of discernment, and nothing remained but to set it up as a principal subject for mirth and ridicule.'

This words have quite a modern ring to them, but in fact they were written in 1732 by a chap called IIRC Bishop Butler. Just a few years later the Great Awakening started, both in Britain and America, and God again raised up great men of God to build up His Church once more. What He has done once, He can do again. Let us be in much prayer about it.

'For thus says the Lord GOD: "I will also let the house of Israel inquire of Me to do this for them. I will increase their men like a flock."' Ezekiel 36:37.
'The night is far spent; the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armour of light.' Romans 13:12.

We all pray for a reviving of the church and a bountiful harvest of souls. It seems the former always leads to the latter.

But as far as this world goes, I wonder if Calvinists have a point - that we are living in the best possible of worlds.

The reasoning is that God is sovereign over creation and He works out all things for His glory.

I think of the terrors the early church experienced during persecutions. We acknowledge their sufferings, but only as a distant observer can consider such things. We see the strengthening of the church, the growth, the absolute commitment to the faith. But we don't hear the the orphaned cries or the mothers weeping. We don't hear the bones cracking or smell the flesh burning. That was for another time.

Looking back we see the glory out of the suffering. I don't think we see that except via hindsight. In the fire we have faith.
