    1. The belief in the Doctrine of Total Depravity has played a crucial role in establishing more just governments by highlighting the need for systems with increased accountability, such as the rule of law and separation of powers.
    2. This doctrine challenges the popular notion in our culture that external factors are the primary cause of defilement and that eliminating these factors will lead to purity and peace. This view is opposed by understanding that the source of defilement is not merely "out there" or “with other people”, but is actually within each individual. This realization fosters humility and encourages individuals to look inward and acknowledge their own role in the problems of the world. (Reference: Mark 7:15)
    3. The Doctrine of Total Depravity serves as a reminder of how far humanity falls short of God's holiness but also the magnitude of God's mercy and forgiveness toward us who have. This awareness helps individuals see the importance of extending forgiveness to others. (Reference: Matthew 18:21-35)
    4. Recognizing the inherent sinfulness of all humans can lead to greater compassion for others and a desire to serve those in need.
    5. Understanding total depravity can lead to a greater appreciation for the grace of God and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
    6. The doctrine of total depravity can help individuals break free from the cycle of sin and temptation by recognizing the depth of their own depravity and relying on the strength and power of God to overcome it.
    7. In those whom the Spirit has regenerated, It can foster a greater sense of accountability for one's actions and a desire to live a life that is pleasing to God.
    8. Recognizing the universality of sin has the tendency to promote unity and eliminate pride, judgment, and gross division within the body of Christ.
    9. The acknowledgment of our own sinfulness can also lead to greater self-reflection and personal growth as individuals strive to live more in accordance with God's will.

Both Calvinists and Arminianists believe in a form of the doctrine of total depravity although it is defined with some subtle differences.

The list looks like the results of a late-night seminary students brainstorming session.
The benefits certainly were not listed in order any order.
I totally laughed at the first two… perhaps true but IMO they are quite a stretch.

I agree with the highlighted point (#5) and also with #9, but am not persuaded that one needs to be “totally” cognizant of the doctrine.

    Good post!
