    THE WOULD-BE FOLLOWERS

    Luke 9.57-62

These verses very clear specified some of the anguish, misery, and distress, that will follow all those who decided to tight their life with Jesus Christ. And indeed, many so called "would be followers," tried to follow Jesus Christ even up to this day, who are inspired by His sermons and considered themselves as Christians, but as Jesus predicted, many of them fall out, because they have been unprepared to face all the tribulations being a true Christian, not in words but in heart.

    57. And as they were going along the road, someone said to Him, 'I will follow You wherever You go.'

    58. And Jesus said to him, 'The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests, but the *Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.'

    ~ 22.26.44.56.58. *Son of Man: (Ezekiel 1.26, 2.1.3.6.8, 3.1.4.10.17.25, 4.1.16, 5.1, 6.2, 7.2) (Daniel 7.13) (Matthew 8.20, 9.6, 10.23, 11.19, 12.8.32.40, 13.37.41, 16.13.27-28, 17.9.12.22, 18.11, 19.28, 20.18.28, 24.27.30.37.39.44, 25.31, 26.2.24.45.64) (Mark 2.10.28, 8.31.38, 9.9.12.31, 10.33.45, 13.26-27, 14.21.41.62) (Luke 5.24, 6.5.22, 7.34, 9.22.26.44.56.58, 21.27) (Revelation 1.7, 14.14).

In verses 59-60 Jesus told to one of His followers, "Allow the dead to bury their own dead," meaning that let those who are earthly do their earthly things, but for those who are spiritual, "go and proclaim everywhere the Kingdom of GOD" and do not bother yourself with the earthly things.

In verses 61-62 another man decided to follow Jesus and asked Jesus permit him to go and say good-buy to those at home. And here Jesus stated very important and straight-forward answer saying, "No one after putting his hand to the plow and looking back is fit for the Kingdom of GOD." (Psalm 119.113) (Luke 9.62) (Hebrews 10.38) (Ecclesiast 5.4).

This means if a person dedicated himself/herself to Christ, there is no turning back, and all that the Christ required from His followers must be fulfilled and done according to all His Statutes and Commandments.

From this moment and on, being a Christian, the responsibilities and obligations of a person before GOD changes drastically. Christians have more responsibilities than ordinary people, and from Christians will be asked more than from other ordinary people.

    Jeremiah 48.10
    10. "Accursed is the one who is slack in doing the work of the Lord."

The level of dedication and faith very different from person to person, for this reason Christ said:

    Luke 8.4-15
Parable about sower and his seed.

    4. And when a great multitude were coming together, and those from the various cities were journeying to Him, He spoke by way of parable:

    5. 'The sower went out to sow his seed, and as he sowed, some fell beside the road and it was trampled under foot, and the birds of the air ate it up.

    6. And other seed fell on rocky soil, and as soon as it grew up it withered away, because it had no moisture.

    7. And other seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and chocked it out.

    8. And other seed fell into the good soil and grew up, and produced a crop a hundred times as great.' As He said these things, He would call out, 'He who has ears to hear let him hear.' (Matthew 13.3-9) (Mark 4.1-9) (Luke 8.4-8).

    9. And His disciples began questioning Him as to what this parable might be.

    10. And He said, 'To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of GOD, but to the rest it is in parables, *in order that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

    ~ 10. Eyes do not see, Ears do not hear: (Deuteronomy 29.4) (Isaiah 6.9-10, 29.10, 43.8) (Ezekiel 12.2) (Matthew 13.14-16) (Mark 4.12, 8.18) (Luke 8.10) (John 12.40) (Acts 28.25-27) (Romans 11.8-10)

    11. Now the parable is this: The seed is the Word of GOD.

    12. And those beside the road are those who have heard, then the Devil comes and takes away the Word from their heart, so that they may not believe and be saved.

    13. And those on the rocky soil are those who when they hear, receive the Word with joy, and these have no firm root, they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.

    14. And the seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are chocked with worries, and riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

    15. And the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the Word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance. (Matthew 13.18-23) (Mark 4.13-20) (Luke 8.11-15).
