Sir Isaac Newton proposed two dates for the crucifixion of Christ. The date that became accepted was 33 A.D. April 3rd to have the crucifixion to be in a year that would be in a year following the 15th year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, per Luke 3:1, and on the 14th of Nisan and on a Friday.

When Pope Gregory the 13th changed the calendar, which happened to have caused that date to become April 1st.
