    Technically it should be the same underlying Greek and Hebrew/Aramaic as the KJV. But there are a few issues.

    Luke 1:35, And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born {of you} will be called the Son of God. . . .

    The "of you" is missing. Alone with the footnote that NU and M omit of you.

    I've used the KJV for over 60 years, but I do like the NKJV

    The reason the words are missing from the NKJV is because they are missing from the Greek Textus Receptuses. All editions I believe. It was the NKJV that was faithful to the Textus Receptus when the KJV was not.

    Omit "of thee" after "born." S E G Lm T Tr A W WH NA HF versus B Lt, AV
    Collation of Received text readings
    Stephanus and Elzevir Greek Textus Receptuses verses Beza's Textus Receptus. No doubt Beza got it from the Latin.

    Tyndale
    1:35 And the angell answered and sayd vnto her: The holy goost shall come apon the and the power of the hyest shall over shaddowe the. Therfore also that holy thinge which shalbe borne shalbe called the sonne of god

    Bishops Bible 1568
    And the Angel aunswered, & saide vnto her: The holy ghost shall come vpon thee, & the power of the hyest shall ouershadowe thee. Therefore also that holy thyng whiche shalbe borne, shalbe called the sonne of God

    The Great Bible 1539
    And the angell answered, & sayde vnto her. The holy goost shall come vpon the, and the power of the hyest shall ouer shaddowe the. Therfore also that holy thynge which shalbe borne, shalbe called the sonne of God

    Matthew's Bible 1537
    And the aungell aunswered and sayd vnto her: The holye ghoste shall come vnto the, and the power of the hyest shall ouer shadowe the. Therfore also that holye thynge whiche shall be borne shalbe called the sonne of God

    Coverdale Bible 1535
    The angell answered, & sayde vnto her: The holy goost shal come vpon the, & the power of the Hyest shal ouershadowe the. Therfore that Holy also which shalbe borne (of the) shalbe called the sonne of God

    Notice the brackets above.

    Luke 1:35 (AV 1873)
    And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

    Luke 1:35 (NKJV)
    And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
    Luke 1:35 (Tyndale 1536)
    And the aungell answered and sayde unto her: The holy ghoost shall come upon the/and the power of the hyghest shall over shadowe the. Therfore also that holy thynge which shal be borne/shal be called the sone of God.
    Stephan’s (1550), Ekzevir (1624), Byzantine Majority and Family 35
    Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἄγγελος εἶπεν αὐτῇ, Πνεῦμα ἅγιον ἐπελεύσεται ἐπὶ σέ, καὶ δύναμις ὑψίστου ἐπισκιάσει σοι· διὸ καὶ τὸ γεννώμενον ἅγιον κληθήσεται υἱὸς θεοῦ.
    Erasmus Greek and Latin
    Luke 1:35 Codex Bezae Cantabrigiensis (5th century)
    και αποκριθεις ο αγγελος ειπεν αυτη πνευμα αγιον επελευσεται επι σε και δυναμις ϋψιστου επισκιασι σοι διο και το γεννωμενον αγιον κληθησεται ϋιος θ̅υ̅ ·
    [Oddly enough Beza added it to his Greek edition of the TR]
    Textus Receptus (Beza 1598)
    και αποκριθεις ο αγγελος ειπεν αυτη πνευμα αγιον επελευσεται επι σε και δυναμις υψιστου επισκιασει σοι διο και το γεννωμενον εκ σου αγιον κληθησεται υιος θεου
    Luke 1:35 (Scrivener 1881)
    καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἄγγελος εἶπεν αὐτῇ, Πνεῦμα Ἅγιον ἐπελεύσεται ἐπὶ σέ, καὶ δύναμις ὑψίστου ἐπισκιάσει σοι· διὸ καὶ τὸ γεννώμενον ἐκ σοῦ ἅγιον κληθήσεται υἱὸς Θεοῦ.
    The NKJV simply followed the proper texts.
    Wycliffe and the Anglo Saxon, both translated from the Latin Vulgate have the extra words as the KJV.
    Wycliffe Bible 1382
    And the aungel answeride, and seide to hir, The Hooly Goost schal come fro aboue in to thee, and the vertu of the Hiyeste schal ouerschadewe thee; and therfor that hooli thing that schal be borun of thee, schal be clepid the sone of God.
    Wessex Gospels 1175
    Ða andswerede hyre se ængel. Se halge gast on þe be-kymd & þas heagestan mihte þe ofer-scædeð. & for þan þt halig þe of þe akenned byð; byð godes sune ge-nemned
