The rule for this thread is the premise the Johannine Comma is actually God's word.

On this premise being the case what would you present?
What are the consequences of not believing its truth?

Making arguments that are obviously not true should be avoided.

A primary cross reference to 1 John 5:7, being 1 John 1:1-3, "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. . . ."

The purpose of the Persons who are God and three witnesses in Heaven we deduce to be to the Son's created angels (Job 38:4-7) who witnessed the Son creating the heavens and earth (Genesis 1, Colossians 1:15-17).

And 1 John 5:7 to be a written testimony to mankind of the Trinity of Persons as one God by them being one in their witness.

I have read the first epistle of John many times and I have never understood why there is controversy concerning what is said in John 5. It seems easy enough to believe to me.

I do not think you understand the purpose of this thread.

See my actual view A few of my KJV mark ups.

    @ID731,
There are two views which Christians view as to what the actual word of God is in 1 John 5:7-8 is to read.

One is true, the other is false. The purpose of this thread is to defend the reading found in the KJV as the correct reading!

I personally am unavailable to identify the Latin source presumed to have come from the original Greek, from which the two late Greek texts that are the same came for our English translation. Where 99% of the Greek manuscripts for 1 John do not support this presumed original text reading.

Page 7 claims the mythical grammatical difficulty:
"In the third place, the omission of
    the Johannine comma involves a
    grammatical difficulty. . . ."

    Johannine Comma Greek Grammar Myth.

Proverbs 30:5-6, "Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."

Clarification. Is the idea here that this is part of the original text, or is it that it aligns with God's word elsewhere.

If the latter, who denies the truth of it? Anyone here?

If the former, then it would need to be established through textual analysis of what has been passed down.

The idea here is the premise it is the original text. And to present truthful arguments on that bases.

In a pdf defending the text they believe something that is simply not true.
I hadn't yet started the thread to argue against the text. But I made my negative comment. Defending the Johannine Comma 1 John 5:7-8.
