My view defers.

I do hold Jesus warns Peter 3 times.

First warning John 13:36-34.

Second warning Luke 22:35-38

And the third time.
Matthew and Mark are the same warning.

Matthew omits that one word Mark quoted Jesus to have said.

Matthew 26:33-35, Mark 14,:29-31.

 

I also hold Peter only denies Jesus the three times.

The omission or addiction of different details of the 4 accounts of each of the denials is the reason Dr. Pickering's thinking more than the three denials are necessary.

Denial one
Matthew 26:70-71, Mark 14:68, Luke 22:57, John 18:18.

Denial two
Matthew 26:71-72, Mark 14:69-70, Luke 22:58, John 18:25.

Denial three
Matthew 26:74, Mark 14:71-72, Luke 22:60, John 18:27.
