So i am pretty confident i found the link to this person's webpage on this forum, either under a thread about books or authors or a search i did for Don Fortner i think is the name as i see his stuff online and think i miss took his picture for being someone else.

Anyways i agree with this author on the unpardonable sin being what Jesus said though i am uncertain as to his conclusion about cessationists and other things.

It made for a stressful day. I am not cessationist, as I've not seen that in Scripture, but am concerned i have said some things i shouldn't along the line of this author's view.

    https://www.vincentcheung.com/download/UNPARDONABLE.pdf

With this and reading an article of A W. Pinks speaking a lot about faith in Jesus that does not save, i have not had easy reading. I still think i am saved and if not i still love God and his mercifulness and all he is and does and his goodness to me and the good and the evil and hope to live my life as pleasing to him as can be. I do deserve hell and can say nothing against it. I believe i believe in Jesus. And an learning more then ever about how salvation is all of him his righteousness, his grace. God is awesome. I just want his truth and to follow and worship and love and be close to him.

I did not read everything on the link, but welcome others perspectives.

With this and other things i don't know who i should read and so on.

I have not read all of his systematic theology, but Vincent Cheung's section on the sovereignty of God is EXCELLENT. What he wrote on pages 92, 93, and the first paragraph of page 94 are in agreement with what God has told us in His Word:

The issue is not whether you believe in Jesus, but whether God has credited your faith as righteousness!!!!!

There is no "automatic transmission" where if you believe you believe you are automatically transferred into Christ's spiritual body.

    Unpardonable Sin
"...Some people have indeed committed this sin of speaking against the Holy Spirit, and they will burn in hell forever and ever and ever...."
This position is legalistic nonsense. If we do not believe in Jesus, we will not be pardoned. Full stop.
Everyone, not only those who have not said bad things about the Holy Spirit, believing into Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Full stop.

If you believe that Christ's miracles were performed by the power of the devil, you will not be saved. How about if you had believed something wrong about Christ's power or the Holy Spirit, then came to your senses and realized Christ was indeed anointed with the Holy Spirit of God and with God's divine power, would your past error mean you could not be saved? Nope

In summary, the unpardonable sin is to physically die in unbelief. Full stop.

There is no need to make the obvious into Gnostic nonsense.

There are only three texts on the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 12:31-32, Mark 3:28-30 and Luke 12:10. Now only Mark's account explains what Jesus meant by it, Mark 3:30, "Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit." In Mark 3:22, saying Jesus had a demon.

Now what is a believer to do, when a demon actually pretends to be the Holy Spirit? 1 John 4:1, ". . . Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. . . ." See also 2 Corinthians 11:4-14 and Galatians 1:6-9.

Now the Apostle Paul did teach on cessationism in 1 Corinthians 13:8-12. See also James 1:17, 1 Corinthians 12 and 1 Corinthians 14.

I have taken both sides of the argument. (1968-1972). I currently hold a cessationism view.

Honestly, If you are worried that you might have committed the unforgiveable sin, that's a sure sign that you haven't done so.
With regard to Cessationism, here is a link to something I wrote on the subject quite a few years ago.
Cessationism. Have the Sign Gifts Ceased?

Yes, Jason F, follow Mr. Kyrednecks direction, and stop examining yourself at communion to see if you are "of the faith." Do not worry you may be like those who Christ said He never knew. Do not look for the blessed assurance provided by your steadfast devotion to Christ's ministry.

Or you could read your bible... :)

    @JasonF

    Good advice from sage Van:

...and good news from the Lord:

28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Mt 11

    1) Did Van advocate not to worry? Nope as Van was presenting ridicule so - obfuscation on display
    2) Is Van a "sage" with profound wisdom? Nope - but he claims to study God's word.
    3) Is the "yoke" of Christ easy or beneficial? Recall, what happens to all who live for Christ?

    2 Timothy 3:12
Indeed, all who want to live in a godly way in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

    Galatians 6:12
All who want to make a good showing in the flesh try to compel you to be circumcised, simply so that they will not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.
