Isaiah 53:4-6 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

1. And now the scales have left mine eyes,
Now I begin to see;
O the curs'd deeds my sins have done!
What murd'rous things they be!

2. Was it for crimes that I had done,
Jesus, my Lord, was slain,
When justice seiz'd God's only Son,
And put his soul to pain?

3. Forgive my guilt, O Prince of peace,
I'll wound my God no more;
Hence from my heart, ye sins, begone!
For Jesus I adore.

4. Furnish me, Lord, with heav'nly arms
From grace's magazine,
And I'll proclaim eternal war
With every cherish'd sin.
