The Bible Translated into pirate talk.

    • Galatians 5:18-21 (KJV)
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

    • Galatians 5:18-21 (Pirate Bible)
18 But if ye be led by the wind, ye ain't subject to the Code.

19 Ayy, the scurvy deeds of the scallywag be plain to see: adultery, fornicatin', uncleanliness, and lecherousness.

20 Mutiny, voodoo, avast hatred, arguin', lookin' fer a fight, bombs burstin' with rage, scallywags at each other's throats, blasphemous thinkin', and mutinous notions!

21 Arrr, envyin's an' murders, guzzlin' grog an' revelries, o' th' likes o' that, I be tellin' ye afore, as I said afore t' those what do such, that they won't inherit th' kingdom o' God.
    The Pirate Bible

I wonder if a couple people who post on the BB might have worked on this translation? :Whistling:Wink

It MUST be both accurate and inspired since it is based on the KJV and, therefore, the TR … free from those corrupting MGNT influences. :Cool

Ar Matey... Found my treasure in the KJV!... Not fools gold!... Disagree with this brother, ye have to walk the plank... Brother Glen;)

Psalms 12: 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Great. Now we can spend the next five years debating what “scallywag” means.

Seems a little flippant for my taste.

    peace to you

Too clever to have come from Vanology, more apt to have one like Aaron for it's origin. :)

Thousands of languages and dialects with not a single verse of the Bible, and these people decided we need a "pirate translation"???? What a waste of time and effort.

And though they claim it was all done by AI, they wrote, "We worked hard to find a formula that produced true, pirate-like speech while still trying to preserve the meaning of the original text. In order to achieve that goal, we, at times, needed to adjust our algorithm and re-run verses through the translator..." (About the project). So there had to be human direction. Still no Bible translation done strictly by AI.

I do agree it is a waste of time. A side topic, for a different thread, is: Why are so few Christians joining Wycliffe in order to help translate the Bible into unchurched languages?
There is a person at my church who is fluent in both Hebrew and Greek, but he won't even entertain the notion of going out with Wycliffe to use his gifts of language in translating. (He is even fluent in the languages of the "Lord of the Rings.")

Why, when God has so greatly gifted you, would you not go? What I wouldn't give to have the gift of language acquisition and translation. But, alas, that is not the gift God has bestowed upon me. I can barely pick out a noun from a verb in English.

    I agree completely!

The way to learn a language is simply, work hard. Work very hard! One of my Greek students got an F the first time, but then an A the second time she took it!

But I admit that there are those who seem to be simply incapable of learning a language. I had another student who failed twice. What a feat! But those who are willing to work can pass.
