Whoever believes in the Lord God Jesus Christ of the New Testament in the Bible, the one who gives eternal life, who died on the cross for the sins of the world, was buried, and rose again the third day, has eternal life. Eternal life is irrevocable; otherwise it is not eternal. But of course they would have to believe it through hearing the Word of God. John is the evangelistic book, and Romans is not. Belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ is not essential for obtaining eternal life.

Please correct me if I am mistaken.

I believe you are mistaken. According to the view expressed, if a person believes the right things, he or she will be saved. Do we have to believe John's gospel or Paul's gospel, or Mark's or Matthew's or Luke's? Nope If we believe in the "name" of Christ, is that not enough? Yes it is!

What is the "name" of Christ? It is what we know about Him, His characteristics and promises. Say the whole "name" includes 10 points. Say I believe 6 of them. Could I be saved? Yes, if God credits my flawed faith as righteousness. Could someone else believe in the the other 4 and still be saved, if God credits their faith as righteousness. Yes indeed.

I think we must believe in the God that sent Christ, for it seems if we think Christ did His miracles by the power of the devil, we are doomed.

Remember, election for salvation does not depend upon the person who wills or works to be saved, but upon God alone. Romans 9:16

    Romans chapter 10

9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation

    Mark 1:15

"and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

    Luke 24:47

"and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem"

    2 Corinthians 7:10

For godly grief produces a repentance not to be regretted and leading to salvation, but worldly grief produces death

    1 Corinthians 15

1 Now I would remind you, brothers,a of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

"For I am not ashamed of
the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation
to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
    Romans 1:16.

God has Ordained in His Eternal Plan of Salvation
    to have the Gospel preached,
as the means by which the Holy Spirit uses to Give the lost soul the New Birth

and, therefore, a Spirit from God Implanted into them which Enabled them
to Repent of their sins that nailed Jesus to the cross and Faith and Belief
that when Jesus died. He died for them and their sins personally and that
God the Father accepted Jesus' payment in their place and then
Jesus Rose from the Dead, proving He had the Power of Eternal Life
    over death.

That is the Old, Old Story, and How God Saves Souls.

"THE END OF ELECTION IS INSEPARABLY CONNECTED
WITH ALL THE MEANS NECESSARY TO ITS ACCOMPLISHMENT."

"At the same time God chose His people He ordained all the means necessary to accomplish their full and final salvation. See Rom. 8:29,30. These means were inseparably joined to election in the decree of God.

"We have no sympathy with Hardshellism, hypercalvinism. To say that the elect will be saved whether they ever hear the gospel or not is to misunderstand completely the connection between election and the means God has ordained for the accomplishment of the end of election.

"Salvation- spiritual, temporal, and eternal- is by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8-10; Rom. 5:1; Gal. 8:26). All the heathen that die without hearing the gospel will be lost (Rom. 1:19,20; 2:12).

"Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Rom. 10:17).

"Wherever God has an elect soul, in the fullness of His own time, He will in some way send the gospel to call that one from darkness to light.
    See 2 Thess. 2:14.

"Thus Philip was sent to the elect eunuch, and thus it was given to Paul to endure that the elect might obtain eternal salvation (11 Tim. 2:10). Thus we have the divine tie between election and missions.

"Some charge that unconditional election makes all means useless. They say if the case is so with man that he cannot by nature receive spiritual things and must be quickened by the Spirit before he can turn from sin, being sure to turn when he is quickened, then why preach to him?

"We preach to him, first of all,
    because God has commanded it.

"We accept God's Word whether we can reason out why He speaks thus and so or not. We do not make our reason the standard of obedience or truth, as is the case with Arminians.

"But, on the other hand, we find God's Word to teach that God calls His elect by the Word, since the Word is the instrument of the Spirit in regeneration
    (John 3:5; Eph. 5:25,26; Titus 3:5; Jas. 1:18; 1 Pet. 1:23).

"There is no more incongruity in preaching the gospel to the spiritually dead than there was in Christ's standing before the tomb of Lazarus, dead four days, and saying, "Lazarus, come forth."

"As long as he remained dead Lazarus could not hear, much less obey, the command. But the life-giving power of God accompanied the Word of God, and Lazarus both heard and came forth.

"It is ours to preach the gospel to every creature,
    for so has Christ commanded.

"It is God's part to bring the dead to life.

"See also the parable of the dry bones in the valley, where we have a picture of conversion through preaching (Ezek. 37).

"The dry bones represent the state of sinners by nature.

"The bones were lifeless; yet preaching to them was not in vain."

from: T. P. Simmons Theology INDEX

Oops, I started to use this quote, but encountered an unreconcilable disparity.
I have to go with the accomplished work of the initial salvation experience as being what is referred to, that while the completion of our ultimate salvation in Glory is Glorification, the Gospel they received saved their souls Eternally and can't be represented as only possibly being the end result of an overall process of "being saved" in this life. That's for a different religion to profess.

    I Corinthians 15:1; "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 "By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

    3 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 "And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

What is the doctrine, teaching of Christ, that is to believe what it means to believe Jesus to be the Christ?

2 John 1:9, Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

John 15:6, If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

1 John 3:6, Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

Romans 4:15, Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

1 John 3:4, Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Roman 6:14, For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Romans 10:4, For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Galatians 2:21, I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4, . . . the gospel . . . For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

    Romans 1:16, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;

1 John 5:1, Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God:

Hebrews 10:17, And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

1 John 5:13, These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

I've actually got studies on fifty-something more scriptures that seemingly
would teach a Universal or General Atonement, at first glance.

I can usually come up with 5 for every 1 verse someone comes up with.

And then, none of them wind up teaching what they "think".

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD."
    Isaiah 55:8.

Here are five good ones that you are used to.

JOHN GILL ON SOME UNIVERSAL ATONEMENT PASSAGES.

"The following excerpts are from John Gill's
    Exposition of the New Testament.

They address five verses that are often presented as arguments
    for a "universal atonement"
and thus against a "limited or definite atonement."

However, I think you will find that Dr. Gill
successfully shows that these verses carry no real force in that regard.

Click here for an Exposition of:
    ...
II Cor 5:19; "To wit, that God was in Christ,
    reconciling the world unto Himself,
    not imputing their trespasses unto them;
and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."

    ...

    I Tim 2:1-6; "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men;

    2; "For kings, and [for] all that are in authority;
that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life
    in all godliness and honesty.

    3; "For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4; "Who will have all men to be saved,
and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5; "For [there is] One God, and One Mediator between God and men,
    the man Christ Jesus;

6; "Who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time."
    ...

I Tim 4:9-10; "This [is] a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

10; "For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach,
because we trust in the Living God, Who is the Saviour of all men,
    especially of those that believe."

    ...

Hebrews 2:9; "But we see Jesus, Who was made
a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death,
Crowned with Glory and Honour; that He by the Grace of God
should taste death for every man."

    ...

II Pet 3:9; "The Lord is not slack concerning His Promise,
as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward,
not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance."

Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.

29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

    Brother Glen:)

Just a note... All Israel is in regards to both spiritual Jews and Gentiles!

Okay. I apologize. I could not see the emoticons that well.

What exactly is General Atonement? I know I can look it up but I guess I'll just ask you.

I also forgot what I said about please correct me if I am mistaken. I apologize.

"The following excerpts are from John Gill's
    Exposition of the New Testament.

They address five verses that are often presented as arguments
    for a "General Atonement",
and thus against a "Limited or Definite Atonement."

A General Atonement assumes and teaches, from verses like these below,
that appear to be saying that "Jesus' Death was Generally speaking,
intended to perform some level of "payment"(?), for EVERYONE,
that is, "for the entire human race", and "all individuals without exception."

The logic which immediately engulfs the conversation is,
"How could Jesus' Death have been for all Mankind,
    when some go to Hell?"

See? There would be one payment of
"punishment equivalent of Hell", PAID BY JESUS
and then, "a soul who dies lost suffers Hell, themselves, too."

The Realm of Reality regarding God's Justice comes into play, there,
whereas, we are introduced to the concept of "Double Jeopardy."

That is a case where there are TWO PUNISHMENTS for ONE OFFENCE.

Our Court Systems don't exact Double Jeopardy and neither does God.

Double Jeopardy is Unjust. And God is Just.

The opposite of a General Atonement, or Payment by Jesus Christ,
is referred to as a Limited Atonement, whereas, we see Bible teachings
such as Matthew 1:21; where speaks of the Birth of Jesus and says,

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His Name JESUS:
for He shall Save His people from their sins."

From those words, we see the restrictive wording in that verse,
as referring to Specific People Jesus would Save,
"He shall Save His people", as well as the mention of exactly
what it is specifically Jesus Saves those Specific People from,
"He shall Save His people from their sins."

So, we see the Bible teaching there that Jesus Death was punishment,
"Limited" to Specific People and their Specific sins.

We need to remember, in these cases, that in order to
clearly determine the correct teachings that
God would have us to understand,
we need to be sure to compare scripture with scripture:

Hermeneutics: How to Read and Understand the Bible.

RULE #3: Compare Scripture with Scripture.

    1. The Holy Spirit revealed the things of God by His Own use of words and concepts (I Cor 2:13).

The illustration of this rule gives popular texts that are corrupted
    and other texts simply misunderstood
by not comparing the Scriptural usage of the words or concepts.

    1. Jesus Christ is not the propitiation for all the sins of all men by virtue of our first rule.
      1. Therefore, I John 2:2 must be using the “whole world” in some limited sense.
      2. Just a little comparison shows “world” as very limited (Luke 2:1; John 12:19).
      3. Furthermore, we remember that John was a minister to the Jews (Galatians 2:9).
      4. He used “world” to indicate redeemed among the Gentiles also (Rom 11:12,15).
    2. We do not care for the narrow minds that say, “All means all, and that’s all all means!”
      1. They are hoping “all” might lead them to universal redemption (I Timothy 2:4).
      2. But we already know that universal redemption is heresy by our first rule.
      3. And we cannot accept Paul was a practicing sodomite by three alls (I Cor 9:22).
      4. Neither do we think loving money causes men to use prostitutes (I Tim 6:10).
      5. We understand this word by its context, often meaning of all sort (I Tim 2:1-2).
    3. Peter certainly writes like he did not believe in limited atonement (II Pet 2:1). Do you?
    4. The conclusion appears unavoidable – wicked, God-denying reprobates, whom He would swiftly destroy, were bought by the Lord: Jesus died for them as well.
    5. We know this cannot be true by using our first rule, but what does Peter mean?
    6. By comparing Scripture, we know Peter was an apostle to the Jews (Gal 2:9).
    7. By comparing Scripture, we find Peter using Moses’ warning (Deut 32:5-6).
    8. By further comparison, we learn “bought” describes God’s deliverance of Israel from Egypt (Deut 4:34-35; 7:8; 15:15; 24:18; Psalm 106:21-22; Isaiah 43:3-4).
    9. Peter warns of false teachers so wicked they would deny the very God that had delivered their nation, thus magnifying their profane character as Moses had.
So, I think you will find that Dr. Gill
successfully shows that these verses carry no real force in regard
to those who see them as teaching a General Atonement
and that, on the contrary, there are other scriptures, that have to be
compared to them, which clearly restricts them to teaching
    a Limited Atonement, instead.

On the one hand, you say God is just and would never send a person whose sins have been atoned for to Hell. On the other hand, you say God is just and yet unconditionally elected people to salvation who deserved to go to Hell, damming the rest simply because He does not want them for no reason.

What if people's sins were forgiven but they did never had eternal life because they never believed Christ's promise? Isn't that what the Bible teaches?

in the end, lost pople are judged by their works and cast into the lake of fire, because their name is not written in the Book of Life.

Also, you have not addressed Revelation 22:16.
