    Whoever believes in the Lord God Jesus Christ of the New Testament in the Bible, the one who gives eternal life, who died on the cross for the sins of the world, was buried, and rose again the third day, has eternal life. Eternal life is irrevocable; otherwise it is not eternal. But of course they would have to believe it through hearing the Word of God. John is the evangelistic book, and Romans is not. Belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ is not essential for obtaining eternal life.

    Please correct me if I am mistaken.

    I believe you are mistaken. According to the view expressed, if a person believes the right things, he or she will be saved. Do we have to believe John's gospel or Paul's gospel, or Mark's or Matthew's or Luke's? Nope If we believe in the "name" of Christ, is that not enough? Yes it is!

    What is the "name" of Christ? It is what we know about Him, His characteristics and promises. Say the whole "name" includes 10 points. Say I believe 6 of them. Could I be saved? Yes, if God credits my flawed faith as righteousness. Could someone else believe in the the other 4 and still be saved, if God credits their faith as righteousness. Yes indeed.

    I think we must believe in the God that sent Christ, for it seems if we think Christ did His miracles by the power of the devil, we are doomed.

    Remember, election for salvation does not depend upon the person who wills or works to be saved, but upon God alone. Romans 9:16

    God has Ordained in His Eternal Plan of Salvation
    to have the Gospel preached,
    as the means by which the Holy Spirit uses to Give the lost soul the New Birth

    and, therefore, a Spirit from God Implanted into them which Enabled them
    to Repent of their sins that nailed Jesus to the cross and Faith and Belief
    that when Jesus died. He died for them and their sins personally and that
    God the Father accepted Jesus' payment in their place and then
    Jesus Rose from the Dead, proving He had the Power of Eternal Life
    over death.

    That is the Old, Old Story, and How God Saves Souls.

    Oops, I started to use this quote, but encountered an unreconcilable disparity.
    I have to go with the accomplished work of the initial salvation experience as being what is referred to, that while the completion of our ultimate salvation in Glory is Glorification, the Gospel they received saved their souls Eternally and can't be represented as only possibly being the end result of an overall process of "being saved" in this life. That's for a different religion to profess.

    I Corinthians 15:1; "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

    2 "By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

    3 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

    What is the doctrine, teaching of Christ, that is to believe what it means to believe Jesus to be the Christ?

    2 John 1:9, Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

    John 15:6, If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

    1 John 3:6, Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

    Romans 4:15, Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

    I've actually got studies on fifty-something more scriptures that seemingly
    would teach a Universal or General Atonement, at first glance.

    I can usually come up with 5 for every 1 verse someone comes up with.

    And then, none of them wind up teaching what they "think".

    "For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
    neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD."
    Isaiah 55:8.


    Here are five good ones that you are used to.

    JOHN GILL ON SOME UNIVERSAL ATONEMENT PASSAGES.

    "The following excerpts are from John Gill's
    Exposition of the New Testament.

    They address five verses that are often presented as arguments
    for a "universal atonement"
    and thus against a "limited or definite atonement."

    However, I think you will find that Dr. Gill
    successfully shows that these verses carry no real force in that regard.

    II Cor 5:19; "To wit, that God was in Christ,
    reconciling the world unto Himself,

    Two of them are looking up and gazing toward Heaven and one is pointing there.

    And one of the Happy Faces is Praising the Lord and giving a thumbs up!

    What exactly is General Atonement? I know I can look it up but I guess I'll just ask you.

    A General Atonement assumes and teaches, from verses like these below,
    that appear to be saying that "Jesus' Death was Generally speaking,
    intended to perform some level of "payment"(?), for EVERYONE,
    that is, "for the entire human race", and "all individuals without exception."

    The logic which immediately engulfs the conversation is,
    "How could Jesus' Death have been for all Mankind,
    when some go to Hell?"


    See? There would be one payment of
    "punishment equivalent of Hell", PAID BY JESUS
    and then, "a soul who dies lost suffers Hell, themselves, too."

    The Realm of Reality regarding God's Justice comes into play, there,
    whereas, we are introduced to the concept of "Double Jeopardy."

    That is a case where there are TWO PUNISHMENTS for ONE OFFENCE.

    Our Court Systems don't exact Double Jeopardy and neither does God.

    Double Jeopardy is Unjust. And God is Just.

    The opposite of a General Atonement, or Payment by Jesus Christ,
    is referred to as a Limited Atonement, whereas, we see Bible teachings
    such as Matthew 1:21; where speaks of the Birth of Jesus and says,

    "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His Name JESUS:
    for He shall Save His people from their sins."


    From those words, we see the restrictive wording in that verse,
    as referring to Specific People Jesus would Save,
    "He shall Save His people", as well as the mention of exactly
    what it is specifically Jesus Saves those Specific People from,
    "He shall Save His people from their sins."

    So, we see the Bible teaching there that Jesus Death was punishment,
    "Limited" to Specific People and their Specific sins.

    We need to remember, in these cases, that in order to
    clearly determine the correct teachings that
    God would have us to understand,
    we need to be sure to compare scripture with scripture:

    Hermeneutics: How to Read and Understand the Bible.

    RULE #3: Compare Scripture with Scripture.

    1. The Holy Spirit revealed the things of God by His Own use of words and concepts (I Cor 2:13).

    The illustration of this rule gives popular texts that are corrupted
    and other texts simply misunderstood
    by not comparing the Scriptural usage of the words or concepts.

    1. Jesus Christ is not the propitiation for all the sins of all men by virtue of our first rule.
      1. Therefore, I John 2:2 must be using the “whole world” in some limited sense.
      2. Just a little comparison shows “world” as very limited (Luke 2:1; John 12:19).
      3. Furthermore, we remember that John was a minister to the Jews (Galatians 2:9).
      4. He used “world” to indicate redeemed among the Gentiles also (Rom 11:12,15).
    2. We do not care for the narrow minds that say, “All means all, and that’s all all means!”
      1. They are hoping “all” might lead them to universal redemption (I Timothy 2:4).
      2. But we already know that universal redemption is heresy by our first rule.
      3. And we cannot accept Paul was a practicing sodomite by three alls (I Cor 9:22).
      4. Neither do we think loving money causes men to use prostitutes (I Tim 6:10).
      5. We understand this word by its context, often meaning of all sort (I Tim 2:1-2).
    3. Peter certainly writes like he did not believe in limited atonement (II Pet 2:1). Do you?
    4. The conclusion appears unavoidable – wicked, God-denying reprobates, whom He would swiftly destroy, were bought by the Lord: Jesus died for them as well.
    5. We know this cannot be true by using our first rule, but what does Peter mean?
    6. By comparing Scripture, we know Peter was an apostle to the Jews (Gal 2:9).
    7. By comparing Scripture, we find Peter using Moses’ warning (Deut 32:5-6).
    8. By further comparison, we learn “bought” describes God’s deliverance of Israel from Egypt (Deut 4:34-35; 7:8; 15:15; 24:18; Psalm 106:21-22; Isaiah 43:3-4).
    9. Peter warns of false teachers so wicked they would deny the very God that had delivered their nation, thus magnifying their profane character as Moses had.
    So, I think you will find that Dr. Gill
    successfully shows that these verses carry no real force in regard
    to those who see them as teaching a General Atonement
    and that, on the contrary, there are other scriptures, that have to be
    compared to them, which clearly restricts them to teaching
    a Limited Atonement, instead.

    On the one hand, you say God is just and would never send a person whose sins have been atoned for to Hell. On the other hand, you say God is just and yet unconditionally elected people to salvation who deserved to go to Hell, damming the rest simply because He does not want them for no reason.

    What if people's sins were forgiven but they did never had eternal life because they never believed Christ's promise? Isn't that what the Bible teaches?

    in the end, lost pople are judged by their works and cast into the lake of fire, because their name is not written in the Book of Life.

    Also, you have not addressed Revelation 22:16.
