Pete Rose - Time for the Hall of Fame

Pete Rose died Monday at the age of 83.

I lived in Cincinnati during the 1960's and early 1970's got to watch him play.
He followed my path to Philly, where he broke the hits record...and more.

His nickname, "Charlie Hustle", was apt; he didn't walk to first base, he ran.

He holds many league records that will likely never be surpassed.

It's time - Put Him in the Hall of Fame.

I completely agree! Some of the characters already in the hall were miserable human beings, but they stuck them in anyway. Charlie Hustle made some mistakes, but not as bad as some.

The Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is an awesome place. Ever been there?

Lawlessness is not Christian. Jesus says the lost must turn from our self directed life and follow Christ as Savior and Lord. Should God forgive those who do not?

Do two wrongs make a right? Should Pete be put in the Hall of Fame because others put in were flawed?

Which is more important, Pete being an example that there are consequences for ignoring the rules laid down by those in authority, or Pete being an example of being a successful scofflaw.

Should we put Pete next to Lou, Jackie, and Roberto?

Nope... I'm really not much of a sports fan now.

But I saw him play at Cincinnati's Riverfront Stadium when it was first built in the 1970's.
In my opinion, the Red's back then were the best team in baseball!
I could still name most of the team.

...brings back memories...

I remember where I was when the Phillies (with Pete) won the Series.

Reading the obit. It brought up some names I forgot...

The Big Red Machine: Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Tony Perez, Concepcion, Foster and you can't forget Sparky Anderson, the manager.

President Trump says he will pardon Pete Rose [LINK]

"Over the next few weeks I will be signing a complete pardon of Pete Rose, who shouldn’t have been gambling on baseball, but only bet on his team winning," Trump posted on Truth Social.

"Major League Baseball didn’t have the courage or decency to put the late, great, Pete Rose, also known as ‘Charlie Hustle,’ into the Baseball Hall of fame. Now he is dead, will never experience the thrill of being selected, even though he was a FAR BETTER PLAYER than most of those who made it, and can only be named posthumously. WHAT A SHAME!"

Too little too late. That probably still won't get him into the sacred Hall.
