Some food for thought. I’m not giving it all away- dig for it

When he goes to the father for his inheritance is the same as saying “father, I wish you were dead”

Riotous living is just that - horrible sin

No Jew could ever consider taking care of hogs since they were unclean

The Father is the Father as in God the Father

The older son is the Pharisees notice how cold they were to the return of the son

There is more

Now go read the story 2-3 more times

It’s almost chilling

Questions to ask. What did the neighbors think of all of this?

Why did the Father restore him? He was not obligated to do so

What attributes of God do you see?

The older son

Deuteronomy Chapter 32

21

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; They have provoked me to anger with their vanities: And I will move them to jealousy with those that are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

...compared with the Pharisee and the Publican

Luke Chapter 15

29

But he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, and I never transgressed a commandment of thine; and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

Luke Chapter 18

11

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

12

I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I get.

Luke Chapter 15

19

I am no more worthy to be called your son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

20

And he arose, and came to his father. But while he was yet afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21

And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight: I am no more worthy to be called thy son.

Luke Chapter 18

13

But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be thou merciful to me a sinner.

Wonderful, very wonderful.-> John 10: 15-18-> JESUS said:

15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold (the Gentile peoples, foolish nations)
: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one Shepherd. -> verse 14: Our Lord JESUS said: 14 I am the good Shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. - Alleluia!!! -

17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

Isaiah 9:1-7
1 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
